In a not-unexpected but still exciting move, SNK revealed at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show that Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves would be getting Street Fighter guest characters in the form of Ken and Chun-Li.
Fatal Fury and Street Fighter have shared a connection ever since both series' inceptions in the late 1980s. Specifically, Fatal Fury was created by Street Fighter creator Takashi Nishiyama when he moved to SNK after creating the latter at Capcom. This shared origin eventually led to the companies' rivalry in the 1990s, with both putting out multiple fighting game franchises, including the Samurai Shodown, the King of Fighters, Darkstalkers and Marvel vs Capcom.
This rivalry eventually came to a head when both companies released a series of crossover fighting games with each others' characters at the turn of the millennium. This effort led to classics such as Capcom vs. SNK 2 and SvC Chaos: SNK vs Capcom.
Since then, many fans have been hoping that SNK and Capcom would collaborate once more. These fans got what they wished for at this year's Summer Game Fest when Capcom revealed that Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui would be coming to Street Fighter 6. However, that led to many also believing that Street Fighter characters would come to City of the Wolves in return — something that SNK confirmed at the ongoing 2024 Tokyo Game Show.
SNK's latest City of the Wolves teaser trailer reveals that Ken Masters and Chun-Li will be coming to the game as part of the game's first season of DLC characters.
Other than that not much else has been revealed about how Ken and Chun-Li will appear in the game — the trailer even uses their Street Fighter 6 art. (Read: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will have color edit mode)
What is known, however, is the fact that players will not have to pay to access them. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves' season pass, which includes 5 characters, is currently free with all pre-orders of the game.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves launches on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series consoles on April 24, 2024.
