Overview
Life is precious - that's why they take it.
As a boy Andy Lorimar loved puzzles, but one he didn't solve destroyed his childhood. It would've taken his future too if he hadn't found stability in the Police service. Now a long serving Edinburgh detective he's built a solitary existence following evidence to find the truth.
After the horrific murder of a city councillor and the disappearance of a council employee, the trail of evidence points towards political corruption. But Andy suspects there may be another path to uncover, a shadow-maze stretching back years into the darkness. A path that strays uncomfortably close to a woman that who hears voices of the dead.

Review
Sometimes when you get a thriller you just need one that's dark enough to give you chills and One Night Only certainly does that.
After a grim discovery of a dead councillor by a couple on their way home from a night out the city is rocked as news spreads fast in these times thanks to social media with images and information being leaked online before official confirmation detective Andy Lorimar must quickly piece the puzzle together to appease the public and quieten down suspicious minds. But the path to justice is never an easy one and this particular case may not be as straightforward as you would've first thought with paths stretching back into the past, what was it about this particular councillor? Why did anyone want her dead?
I found G. P Ritchie to have a captivating style to their writing which pulls you straight into the story from the off, although the story does look backwards it still feels like a fluid read as everything flows together well.
