Hello, daily! Do you want to know how you and your family can better protect yourselves against scams? We're inviting you to "Lolo at Lola Laban Sa Scam," a full-day event that's part of Rappler's #ScamAlert campaign to help protect families from scams. In celebration of Grandparents' Day, we're bringing together anti-scam, fact-checking, and disinformation experts to help students, seniors, and families stay safe from manipulation. This will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 8 am to 4 pm, at the University Conference Center of the Far Eastern University (FEU) Manila campus. This is done in partnership with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), FEU Manila, and the #FactsFirstPH coalition. The event is also sponsored by Mang Inasal. Participants of all ages are welcome to join the event. Grandparents can bring their grandchildren, and students are also welcome to bring their family, relatives, and grandparents to join the activities. The roadshow will feature a public forum on the dangers of scams and how to report and avoid them. During the public forum, participants will hear from Rappler journalists and government authorities to better understand the scale of the scam problem and how social media exacerbates its spread. There will also be a panel discussion on how to strengthen scam awareness and digital safety at the community level. In the afternoon, participants can join simultaneous workshops on online safety and fact-checking. Check out the story page here to know more about the roadshow activities.
