MEXICO CITY -- An elevated section of the Mexico City metro collapsed and sent a subway car plunging toward a busy boulevard late Monday, killing at least 23 people and injuring about 70, city officials said.

There's certainly light at the end of the tunnel for a number of PBA teams after Batangas City approved the PBA's proposal to stage team practices in the area.

Batangas City Mayor Beverley Dimacuha and Congressman Marino gave the thumbs up to the proposal last Saturday.

"Okay na ang LGU (local government unit). JAO (Joint Administrative Order from the Department of Health, Games and Amusements Board, and Philippine Sports Commission) na lang, and maybe our teams can start practices middle of May," shared PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has given the green light on the Philippine National Volleyball Federation's (PNVF) request for a Brazilian coach to man the national women's team, tapping former Olympic gold medalist Jorge Edson Souza de Brito to the position.

"We are thankful for the FIVB's quick response to our request and we are more thankful that the federation picked an excellent man for the job,"said PNVF president Ramon "Tats" Suzara.
