Overview

"DISCOVER THE TRUTH! For years, tales of mutant creatures with otherworldly abilities have haunted Port Clovis. Rumors abounded that these aquatic abnormalities were connected to the nearby Plover Island Military Complex. Narrator Trip Westhaven (Chris Parnell) returns to try to uncover what really goes on behind the closed doors of this secretive government facility. Escape the net and explore Plover Island to unlock its mysteries!

Maneater: Truth Quest is a DLC expansion to the smash hit single-player, open-world "ShaRkPG," Maneater. The shark has survived a PT boat explosion only to discover that a new, extremely powerful predator has moved in to threaten her apex status. You must venture out to new waters to discover the mystery of Plover Island as you grow bigger and evolve further to take back the title of apex predator. Experience a new story - Play through a new full narrative, story-based expansion as Trip Westhaven (Chris Parnell; SNL, 30 Rock, Rick and Morty) is back to narrate, having now been relegated to the online video streaming platform "ViewTube."

Explore the Plover Island Military Complex - The mysterious naval base nicknamed "Site P" has long been the subject of wild speculation. Now, you'll infiltrate the facility to find out the real story. Fight new evolved creatures – Battle fierce wildlife including new evolved apex predators as you battle your way up the food chain to regain your regional dominance. Add new evolutions to your arsenal – Feed on military personnel and evolved wildlife to grow your shark further, and find new evolutions to gain more powerful abilities".

Gameplay

If you have previously read my Maneater base game review (if you haven't click here to check it out) you will know what I thought of it, basically I thought it was awesome, now take that expansive "ShaRkPG" and add the mysterious storyline of Truth Quest and you take the game to a whole new level. To unlock the Truth Quest story path you first have to complete the Scaly Pete story.

Trip Westhaven once again is the voice of the story as he travels back to investigate the urban myth of Mutant mammals living in the depths of the sea. The gameplay itself is much like the base game as you are tasked with similar missions to do, but in all fairness that really isn't a bad thing especially if you enjoy murderous rampages and lots of blood (yep me too)

Utilise new evolutions to your Shark to become the ultimate predator, but now you have almost super powers and for a comic book nerd this is especially pleasing. The DLC is certainly a long enough addition to the story that breathes new life into the game full of conspiracy theories kind of like X Files mashed up with Jaws.

The missions and mini mutant battles all ends with the boss fights to end all boss fights against the Atomic Leviathan, basically a toxic crocodile type monster that could literally eat you up in a heart beat, yes the dlc overall is pretty much what you've already played in the base game this is literally worth the dlc alone

Summary

Although the DLC pretty much brings more of the same of what you've seen before I still found it well worth playing and a good addition to the story. Personally as I loved the base game I'm still loving this DLC pack so would definitely give it my seal of approval.

I give it Truth Quest DLC a solid 4🌟 a solid addition to the base story and well worth picking up. More of the same but in this case not necessarily a bad thing.
