The PUP Student Council Assembly (SCA) conducted its first special session for Academic Year 2022-2023 for the deliberation, nomination, and election for the Student Council Constitutional Commissions and Student Tribunal members on December 4, via Zoom Video Conferencing.
The PUP SCA is the highest policy-making body of the Student Council within the jurisdiction of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila Campus to address, coordinate with constituents, and foresee the demands of the PUP studentry. SCA comprises the CSC President, CSC Vice President, CSC Secretary-General, and CSC Treasurer, and all Presidents of College Student Councils.
On its first regular session last November 6, one of the agendas discussed was the current status, application, and revalidation of the Student Council Constitutional Commission and Student Tribunal from November 13 to December 2, 2022.
Applications were open for the positions of the PUP Student Tribunal Chief Magistrate and four (4) Associate Magistrates; PUP SC Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson and four (4) Commissioners; 14 PUP SC Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioners; and the PUP SC Commission on Student Organization and Accreditation (COSOA) Chairperson and two (2) commissioners.
Here are the newly-elected officials in the PUP Student Council Constitutional Commissions and Student Tribunal:
PUP Student Tribunal

- Carlos Jude Maminta (CCIS)
Current Chief Magistrate Mercado has recommended Associate Magistrates Catan and Ocampo to be revalidated, and Tribunal Clerk Payabyab to be accepted as an Associate Magistrate. However, Mercado did not recommend Associate Magistrate nominee Neilvin Aventurado due to their unresponsiveness and inactivity.
PUP Student Tribunal serves as the autonomous arbitration court of all PUP branches and commissions.

PUP SC COA is a non-partisan committee on examining, auditing, and settling all accounts pertaining to receipts and expenditures or uses of the funds held in trust by or pertaining to students, student organizations, and student councils.

The CPSPA Commissionership is left open for special application within this week after the majority of the quorum rejected RJ Salamera's application.
PUP COMELEC stands as the highest policy-making body of all election matters in PUP Main Campus.
PUP Student Council Commission on Student Organization and Accreditation (SC COSOA)

The two COSOA Commissioners are to be appointed by the Chairperson.
The PUP SC COSOA is the sole-accrediting body and an independent student body set to develop an effective working relationship between the Central Student Council, the Office of Student Services (OSS), and all student organizations at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) System.

Meanwhile, the unexcused leave during/to the end of the special session are College of Human Kinetics President Reinier Pacquing, College of Business Administration President Clark Picar, and College of Computer and Information Sciences President, the newly-elected 23rd ANAK PUP Federation President and Student Regent Wilhelm Provido Jr.
CPSPA President Aquiler, along with COC President Mendiola, have expressed their disappointment to the delegates, especially to the 23rd Student Regent Provido Jr. who had left the session without permission.
CBA President Picar and CCIS President Provido Jr. were said to have problems with internet connectivity and were not present until the final roll call.
The resolution regarding the new officials will be discussed asynchronously by the Student Council Assembly and is expected to be written in Filipino language for public viewing.
During the first SCA regular session, CPSPA SC had passed a resolution to encourage Student Council's membership in Defend PUP Alliance, to which the SCA adopted last November 10, in the Resolusyon Blg. 002, Serye ng P.T. 2022-2023, a first-time Filipinized resolution stating that the assembly has joined the Alliance to reiterate the calls for Academic Freedom and uphold the Prudente-Ramos Accord or PUP-DND Accord
College Student Council Presidents from CCIS, CHK, and CBA were also absentees in the first regular session where the filing of the resolutions such as participation to join the university-wide alliances and Student Handbook revisions were discussed.
Meanwhile, other matters such as the preparation, appropriations, disbursement, and liquidation of Student Council funds will be discussed on the resumption of the regular SCA sessions.
