Review
I am beginning to enjoy simulation games having reviewed quite a few over the years, on the whole I find them a good way to relax and explore a new world. House Flipper is another life simulator where you fix up and flip houses to make a profit.
The game isn't a quick fix but then again simulations rarely are, you need to put the graft in to get the benefit, go to your laptop complete handyman jobs to earn money, put this money together to buy property fix it up then sell on for profit then you are able to buy bigger property and make more profit, so the groundwork is the foundation of the game.
As you progress through your tasks you can upgrade your abilities with perk points this can enable you to complete tasks quicker making you more efficient. I actually found the standard jobs of painting and cleaning enjoyable and relaxing whereas in real life I can't stand either, especially when you finish a house you do get a sense of satisfaction (and relief).
There's lots to do in game from painting and building walls to demolishing walls and fitting kitchens, you can either go all out and fit out the properties with high end gear or go on a budget and protect your profit.
Let's be fully honest the game doesn't get your heart racing and adrenaline pumping but there are plenty of games out there that will do that, House Flipper is more of a Sunday afternoon get the kettle on and relax in your chair as you go about your business. I'll put this in the same category as Lawn Mowing Simulator ( see review here ) on the face of it mind numbingly boring but once you play it and get into it you'll find yourself playing for hours as these games have a habit of drawing you deep into the game and you'll find yourself thinking about different strategies to improve your business and make more money, it's addictive.
The rewards of House Flipper are more when you get deeper in the game once you start selling the houses as this is when the bigger paydays come into play, however I still had alot of fun cleaning up that little old lady's house on the way up.
The Luxury House Flipper DLC adds more shine to the game giving you access to bigger more lucrative properties, buy run down industrial buildings and turn them into luxury apartments for the ultimate profit. The DLC doesn't just give you new properties to flip it also gives you the added feature of being able to up cycle worn out furniture you may find making even more profit.
The DLC is perfect for those gamers that feel they have flipped pretty much all they can in the base game, it offers a fresh injection that will keep you further ingrossed in the overall game.
Graphics and Sound
I feel that the graphics of House Flipper were surprisingly good, given that the game isn't next gen it still looks great when running on a next gen machine, the movement is a bit stiff and robotic but doesn't effect the game I still felt the game was still realistic enough to keep me invested.
The soundtrack of the game is good with a chilled vibe to it throughout the game, the in game sounds are pretty realistic even down to the paint squishing on the wall when painting.
Summary
Time now then for me to put my thoughts into a summary, I found that House Flipper was a realistic simulation game that I found entertaining more so than I thought I would, the Luxury DLC is a good addition to the game adding lucrative property for you to flip all making the game that bit more realistic and interesting.
Verdict-Out of 5
Good
I give House Flipper and Luxury House Flipper DLC a joint good score of 4 a good overall chilled out experience with lots to do, great if you fancy a bit of a chilled out gaming session.
