Let's hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here.
This week's discussion prompt: We are now halfway through 2023. What are your favorite songs or albums of the year so far?

I don't know if it's my favorite of the year, but 10,000 gecs (the latest album from 100 gecs) is so gleefully eclectic and weird that for me it's definitely a highlight so far. 100 gecs dabble in all sorts of genres (sometimes within a single song) and even when they move into a style of music I don't really care for (third-wave ska, nu-metal) everything is so irreverent and chaotic that I still enjoy it. Plus, they'll soon be on to something completely different! They shift into so many different gears in a mere 27 minutes that there isn't time to get sick of anything. My favorite thing about this record is that while it might be abrasive and at times even a bit annoying, it's NEVER boring! I love listening to 100 gecs while driving, though I have to admit I felt just a teeny bit self-conscious one time stopped at a light while the mildly demented children's tune that is "Frog on the Floor" blasted out of my windows.
Favorite track is currently album closer "mememe" (CW for video: TEETH).

As always, any and all music-related posts are welcome. Have fun, and rock out with yr guac out!
