Watch out for 'Bayani Love's Hero Z,' the country's very first zombie musical
A zombie musical, "Bayani Love's Hero Z" is an original stage offering featuring important and significant events in the history of the Philippines during the Spanish regime which translated into an unknown time in an unruly community.
Reigning in such an unruly community is Boss Tsip. In his desire to subdue all those opposing his way of governance, and to annihilate the poor, his team of scientists came up with a virus that will infect the populace. There is no cure to this virus. It couldn't be killed.
Under his abusive regime, four friends will work together to fight Boss Tsip governance in order to help achieve justice and freedom for the people. They are Andy (based on the personality of Andres Bonifacio), Jayriz (Jose Rizal), Kudz (Sultan Kudarat) and Pol (Apolinario
Mabini).
In the midst of the virus proliferation, Boss Tsip ordered nationwide lockdown in order also to prevent the rebellion started by laborer Ding ( Diego Silang). He was killed but after his death, his widow Ella (based on Gabriela Silang) will continue his fight for freedom with the help of Tata Selo (Melchora Aquino o Tandang Sora). The four of them decided to help fight the spread of the virus and help stop Boss Tsip's abusive leadership.
The virus will be annihilated in the end with the help of these well-meaning and heroic people.
This musical, a very creative interpretation of an important part of Philippine history, is written and directed by multi-awarded Vince Tanada who's been highly recognized byAliw, Broadway World, Dangal ng Bansa, Palanca and FAMAS, among other award-winning bodies, with Pipo Cifra as musical director. "Hero Z" is for general patronage, and runs for one-and-a-half hours.
"Bayani Love's Hero Z" will run in theater venues all over the Philippines from October 2023 till August of 2024. The musical will feature the music of the multi-awarded musical director and composer Pipo Cifra, and the actors' pool of PSF.
