Ghostlights
Jennifer had moved into a new home, though the house itself was rather old. Every night as she went to sleep, she could hear the floorboards creaking and the house settling.
One evening as she was reading in the living room, several lights floated into the room in midair. Panicked, Jennifer raced to her bedroom and locked the door, her heart racing. She spent the rest of the night hiding under her blankets listening for any sound, no matter how minute.
Time passed and no sign of the ghostly lights occurred again, until some time later when she was again reading in the living room and the floating lights reappeared, she was about to run again, and then a ghostly figure appeared.
"A ghost!" Jennifer screamed, suddenly frozen in fear.
"I'm not trying to scare you." The ghost unexpectedly said.
"Then why the creepy lights?" She asked.
"Creepy lights? I was trying to help." The ghost replied.
"Trying to help?"
"I've always thought this room was rather dim in the evenings, even with the lights on, so I was providing you with some extra lighting to help you read." The ghost told her. Jennifer stood there dumbfounded.
