Coincidentally, the Oppo Find N3 was released too. Oh, that one's for the Chinese users.

Three days ago, OnePlus released the Open, the company's first folding phone. Though, the phone is outsourced from Oppo's Find N3. It is, in fact, the global version of it with the N3 staying inside its home base.

The OnePlus Open, like almost every OnePlus device, features the Alert Slider. This means the Oppo Find N3 also has it. The body, including the frames, is made of aluminum and comes in Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black. However, the latter uses leather instead.

As it is the N3, expect a similar spec sheet. The OnePlus Open features a 6.31" 120Hz LTPO display for the inner screen, and a 7.82" 120Hz OLED when unfolded. As these two screens have a similar 2K resolution, the contents visible on either would be consistent when viewed. Both screens support Dolby Vision and has a whopping 2800 nits of peak brightness. Don't shine it at your face. Though very bright, it's essential when you want to use it outdoors, like in a beach or during the summer.

Just like the Flip, OnePlus said that the hinge is made with "aerospace-grade" aluminum for ensured durability. The tablet has been folded multiple times so that it could potentially last up to 10 years, before the crease starts showing up and the mechanical folding mechanism jams.

It uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB ROM. It is powered by a 4805mAh dual-cell battery with 67W fast charging and no sign of wireless charging. Might be a turn off for some.

One of OnePlus' proudest achievements lies in their cameras, and with Oppo now in the line for their R&D, it should even better now. For the OnePlus Open, there are three cameras. Though, these aren't your ordinary cameras. The main sensor marks the debut of the Sony Lytia LYT-T808 sensor which, unlike the IMX series, is designed exclusively for smartphones, from the ground up, instead of being based on the Exmor series for Sony's cameras. This sensor has 48MP resolution and has OIS, a proprietary "Pixel Stacked" technology which is intended to significantly boost night time shots (it's a fancier way of saying "pixel binning"), and a large 1/1.43" size so it can capture as much as light as realistically possible.

The second camera is the popular OV64B from Omnivision. This sensor is used less as a primary shooter and more as a telephoto, like here with the OnePlus Open. Finally, there is your 48MP Sony IMX581 ultrawide. This is a midrange sensor so we're not sure why OnePlus chose it for their ultrawide. It also does not have the widest view range, at 114°. However, it's necessary to have one and it's better to have it than none. It does the job well anyway.

The front camera found in the unfolded display is a 20MP sensor but when you close it, you can find yourself a 32MP selfie. Both of these cameras feature EIS.

As foldable phones are technically tablets, you bet your butts that there are more than two speakers here. For the Open, there are four "reality" speakers with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Noise Cancellation. The tablet runs OxygenOS 13.2 which is a good thing because Oppo's ColorOS is loaded with ads and bloatware while the former has none.

It is now available for pre-ordering in the United States for a price of USD 1,699.99 (~PHP 96.3K). It is discounted currently to USD 1,499.99 (~PHP 85K). The foldable phone is not available in the Philippines and considering OnePlus' presence here, it's less likely to arrive here.
