Despite "AI" in the name, it's actually not for AI purposes like with most Cherry's AIOT products.
With the advent of Transsion just sweeping over the budget market, the local market might have just met its fate. It's been three years since we saw MyPhone post anything or release new devices, Starmobile went defunct in 2021, Torque has disappeared, and Cloudfone was gone before even Transsion hit the market, with Xiaomi trampling over them. Cherry is the last bastion of a local brand still standing but even then, they are losing their grip. They're in a very tight position now and with Itel releasing budget phones with shockingly great specs at aggressive pricing, it's going to be quite a challenge for the brand to release new phones that are just as competitive, knowing they are ODM rebrands of phones released elsewhere.
However, that doesn't stop Cherry from releasing new devices with a great and clear objective. The Cherry AIO1 (All-in-One) tablet aims to improve online learning and productivity by being an all-around tablet, just as the name suggests. By the design, it looks futuristic and a toy at the same time, which makes it look child-friendly. It also has a swiveling camera which we don't see anymore. Even ASUS gave up on it.
The tablet features a laptop-sized display measuring 15.6-inches and a FullHD+ resolution. The MediaTek Kompanio 500 chipset here is basically a rebranded MediaTek Helio G99 for tablets. It even uses the same Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. It comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The camera resolution is 13MP and is designed to swivel so that you can take high-quality photos from the rear and initiate high-quality videos at the front. Though, there's also a 2MP secondary. As you can see at the back, there's a kickstand because God forbid you hold this massive tablet just with your hands. Remember, the display is as big as your regular mainstream laptop!
It does not appear to have a battery so we're not entirely sure how the tablet gets its power. It runs a now-dated Android 12 but casual users won't mind this factor so as long their regular apps run normally. Another feature mentioned are its loudspeakers and 3.5mm jack. It has no cellular services but connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
It is priced at PHP 11,999 in Cherry's website. The website does not define further what this tablet does so we can only guess. It is also available in Cherry's stores nationwide.
