Review
The long awaited sequel to one of my favourite games of 2020 is here, Ghostrunner 2 is probably one of the most anticipated games of this year, it certainly was by me in any case. Promising more action, more tricky parkour and plenty of katana wielding bloody hack and slash action this is definitely a title for the adrenaline junkies out there.
The difficult hack and slash one shot kill mechanics are still here but the developers have seemed to have done alot of work on this behind the scenes, the gameplay feels alot lot more smoother making the game feel alot more responsive than before, I'm not knocking the first game as it was one of my favourite games so any improvements on that is more than welcome. The main key to the game is the same - utilise your speed and your agility but also your brain to defeat the enemies efficiently, it definitely isn't a case of just running and gunning (like I do in most of the games I normally play).

Fans of the first game are in for a treat as the game is very much like the first but just feels more improved, which is what a sequel should do improve what worked and make the game better. You do still die alot in this game but the game still has that "have another go" feel to it which keeps you pressing the restart button and have one more try, which inevitably turns into about 20/30 tries, but with all this in mind the game still doesn't feel overly difficult as once you crack it the game feels rewarding and there is a benefit to getting used to the formula. The combat of this edition feels more "doable" the previous game and what I mean by that is it feels something that you can still get on top of (eventually) once you master the skills, including the new and improved skill options on offer making Jack the most powerful he's ever been.

The developers have gone all in making sure that this game is a vast improvement on the previous game that went down a storm with gamers and critics alike so that in itself is a monumental task but they managed it with so much style. The game feels so much better in itself but with the great additions of an improved skill system and an addition of the edge of the seat motorbike levels adding more to the adrenaline pumping action that explodes in your face. The motorbike physics are mind blowing and getting the chance to ride a motorbike off walls and ceilings is kind of a dream for most of us out there.
Graphics and Sound
You can't deny that Ghostrunner 2 is probably one of the better looking games out there at the moment, the first game was great looking on last gen and now the developers have utilised the next gen power the game looks so much smoother, the post apocalyptic cyberpunk world breathtakingly crafted to really allow you to immerse yourself within the world albeit at a fast pace as it is normally flying past you. The combat graphics are the best part of the game for me, there is nothing better than hacking and slashing at your enemies and seeing their blood and various body parts fly across the screen.
The soundtrack of the game is once again a strong part of the game with the music once again coming from Daniel Deluxe with synthwave sounds providing the perfect soundtrack to your slashing conquests. The in-game voice acting is good and really allows the story to be told well as it is easy to follow and immerse yourself into it.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I thought Ghostrunner 2 is a vast improvement on the previous title and that is definitely saying something as the previous was definitely one of the games of that year, so bringing out a sequel was definitely a brave move but certainly wasn't a mistake as they have most definitely brought it back stronger than ever before. 1000% recommend to everyone and anyone.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
EXCELLENT
I give Ghostrunner 2 an excellent score of 5 ⭐ an all round improvement on an already close to perfect game, the game now feels more fluid than ever before with the combat still giving you that frustrating addiction you will struggle to stop playing this game.
