"Tough" and "Nokia" are redundant
A month ago, Nokia launched the 800 Tough feature phone. The company has scaled down production of its smartphones and instead focused on its key strengths which are feature phones and phones that are built to last with updates and easy reparability.
Combine "feature phone" and "durability" and you get the Nokia 3200 which can destroy floors! Nahh, just kidding! It's the Nokia 800 Tough. This feature phone is MIL-STD-810G compliant and is designed to withstand the harshest conditions. You name it! Typhoons, flooding, electrical surges, earthquakes, demolitions, and even extreme sports! Its ports are protected with a thick rubber cover so dust and water won't settle in. As a rugged phone, it has an IP68 rating so you can dunk it in a pool for 30 minutes at a depth of 2 meters and the phone is still alive. Even without the IP rating it would probably still last longer than your average smartphone.
It runs Nokia's custom KaiOS with built-in apps like YouTube. It uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 chipset, a color display, 4G LTE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and a large and removable 2100mAh battery. It also features a wimpy 2MP rear camera because why not? This phone is almost perfect for calamities. Just one thing missing: satellite communications! Nokia's main business primarily relies on infrastructure equipment and patents and not including satellite services on this phone is such a missed opportunity. Though having it would increase the price greatly, but that would be negated as now it can be used for emergencies when cellular services are dead.
The back comes with a camouflage theme to reflect its military standard rating. Colors include Black and Sand. It is priced at PHP 6,881. Though you might be thinking to just get a smartphone at this point since you can definitely get a good one at its price range, like the Itel S23 and Redmi 10C for example. However, those looking for a digital detox will certainly find the 800 Tough attractive.
