Review
Recently I had the opportunity to take a look at the first 3 chapters of the upcoming Warhammer release Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin and being a bit of a table top fan I do get kind of excited when Warhammer releases a new title.
Realms of Ruin is a true to life table top strategy game, whereas I do enjoy the FPS Warhammer titles it's the RTS games that feel more like the real life table top games. The Warhammer Fantasy world, was completely destroyed when the ravening forces of Chaos won in a divisive story arc known as The End Times. Many of the key characters survived and the setting was brought back to life as Realms of Ruin battling across a large realms.

From what I saw of the game it runs pretty similar to most Warhammer games I've played of this genre but I did especially enjoy the fantasy style of the game. In the first missions Stormcast Eternals strike out from the fortress settlement of Harkanibus searching from the powerful magic source within the swamps of the Mortal Realm Ghur. Come up against the might of the Krulboys as you endeavour to reach your goal. Utilise your strategies to combat this evil faction as you get used to the different formats you can utilise, accumulate resources allowing you to upgrade your attacking options as you come across the different foes. In the third mission (the final one of the preview) the test went up a notch as you uncover the magic source however uncovering it unleashes the Chainrasps and the threat that comes with it.

I felt getting into this game wasn't for the faint at heart and wouldn't say it was for the more casual gamers out there, this is more for the gamers that are more seasoned RTS gamers, more like the reality you probably wouldn't go into a Games Workshop store and just buy a Warhammer game off the shelf. But on the flip side if you are used to RTS games then this game has a good feel to it and I got the impression that the further you go into the game it has alot more to offer and I get the feeling that I would happily pump hours into the game itself.
Graphics and Sound
The graphics of the game looked pretty slick and ran well on my PC, I didn't see much if any frame dropping and the cutscenes were cinematic and helped tell the story well. The game worlds were breathtakingly crafted and looked incredible making the whole game enjoyable.
The soundtrack of the game was good and has that dramatic sound style that comes with most Warhammer games, the in game sound effects were good and had an immersive feel to it.
Summary
Time then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I enjoyed what I saw from the preview build and baring in mind it was only a preview build it did look stunning. I am excited to see what the full release has to offer. Another great Warhammer release for me to enjoy.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
