Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited sixth numbered installment in Rockstar's seminal open-world franchise, will be bringing players back to Vice City.
The setting of the 2002 spinoff Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the Miami-based locale was one of three major locales from the loose trilogy of games that was the GTAIII era of the franchise. The previous two, Liberty City and San Andreas had already been featured in the past two numbered GTA games: Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto V. As such, it seemed only natural that Vice City would get its turn.
As the trailer below shows, Grand Theft Auto VI's take on Vice City brings more of what made the original so memorable. Everything in this version seems bigger — showing hints of areas outside of the city proper — and sexier as well. The trailer not only shows a fair bit of sun-drenched and water-kissed skin that one would expect from the pseudo-South Beach setting — including a shot of a lady twerking on the roof of a car — but it also hints at some more intimate moments between its lead characters.
And speaking of lead characters, the trailer also hints at what may be the Grand Theft Auto series' first playable female protagonist. If this follows GTAV's multiple protagonists, this new girl may likely be one of GTAVI's playable cast.
Players looking to explore Grand Theft Auto VI's take on Vice City will have to wait, however, as the trailer states that the game isn't coming out until 2025. Of course, this time might give players who still haven't gotten a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series console time to save up for one. (Read: Sony finally reveals new PlayStation 5 "Slim" model)
In its press release accompanying the trailer, Rockstar confirmed that the game will only be coming to the current generation consoles. In addition, as per series tradition, the PC version will seemingly only arrive at a much later date.
