Review
If like me you're a bit of a petrol head then you'll be excited to see the annual release of the latest F1 racers hitting consoles. Last year saw the introduction of the F1 racing management F1 Manager 22 ( see review here ) So following on from that I recently had the opportunity to take a look at F1 Manager 23 and find out what improvements if any have been made.
If you played the last game then you'll notice the similarities with this one as essentially it looks and feels the same game which in all fairness isn't a bad thing as I really enjoyed the last game and loved the opportunity to dive deep behind the race wall. The refresh of the teams and circuits keep the game feeling like an authentic racing experience.
As with the last title if you're not that clued up on this racing simulation then my advise you to go for the more lower teams from the roster when it comes to choosing a team to become principal of as the lower the team the lower the expectations but if you fancy a challenge go for the big boys but the pressure is on. I went for Williams as I love an underdog and they deserve to go back up to the top again (hopefully with me in charge) there is a very helpful AI assistant that will guide you through the basics to get you going.

For me the best thing to do in his game is go straight for the career mode and start building your career as a team principal this is where the the meat really is on the bones of the game, I didn't see too much that was any different from the previous game but having said that I was a big fan of the last so there's a pretty big bar for this one to hit. If you played the previous game then you'll be good to go here as the mechanics of the game is basically the same, in that regard it's a little bit like FIFA (or EAFC as it's now called) the bulk of the game is the same but the game gets refreshed with new additions and yearly update to teams and liveries to keep the game relevant.

Be aware of the point that this isn't an easy game you do have to put the graft in and learn the ins and outs but once you do it's definitely a worthy experience and it's a game that is definitely more for fans of the sport rather than a casual as it goes deep into the workings of the game and fans would find this part of the game enjoyable. The realism of this game is in matched and will probably be the closest most of us race fans will ever get to the pit lane, so if you're a fan and want to know what it's like in the hot seat most definitely look this way.
Graphics and Sound
In terms of graphics the level of realism in this game is mind blowing you can very nearly smell the tyres burning on the track, even the pit crews and their animations are very well crafted. Some of the time when I'm playing I do like to just let it run at normal speed to just see the cars race through at different angles with all the incredible realistic detail but most of the time the impatient me cranks it up to x16 just to get the job done.
The soundtrack of the game is good the best part being at the start of the game as it loads up you get the actual theme song from the F1 along with the video graphics you normally get. In game the sound effects are really good with the different Comms messages popping up and driver interaction giving the game a full on realistic feel.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I really enjoyed the game it was a bit intense taking everything in and it certainly isn't a quick fix and I'd definitely say it's a game for fans due to the level of information that gets thrown at you it's probably going to be little or no interest to someone who doesn't enjoy the sport. I have seen some feedback for the game online giving it a pretty hard time but I personally couldn't find any major issues with the game, yes there's very little between the old game and this apart from the updated liveries and drivers but on the whole I found this an interesting game to play and hopefully this will carry on for years to come.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
