Review
There's nothing better when it comes to gaming than a fighting platformer and over the years there's been a fair few different incarnations, one of my recent favourites was Nickelodeon All-Star BRAWL which basically pits your favourite Nickelodeon characters against each other in a fighting arena, the first game was so much fun I really enjoyed it so when the sequel was released I just had to get my hands on it.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 basically does exactly what you would want a sequel to do, improve on the last one and take the series forward. The overall gameplay is basically the same all out character brawling but the mechanics have been tweaked and the locations added to and improved giving a sleaker experience. The main difference to this game is the inclusion of a single player campaign which follows the same gameplay mechanics but in between each level you now have a story you can follow as you endeavour to stop Vlad Plasmius from taking over the Nickelodeon Universe, you play as SpongeBob as default with the mission of saving Patrick, I'll admit the story isn't going to win any awards anytime soon but it's still a pretty enjoyable experience and brings something different to the table. I would've liked to have been able to choose a character but I guess it makes sense seeing as you have to rescue Patrick.

I personally enjoyed the whole experience of my childhood cartoon favourites kicking each others backside around different locales from the cartoons that we all know and love yes this formula of game has been done before but this game brings the cartoon carnage, I mean who knew you could kick SpongeBob's ass with Ren and Stimpy !! The battles you have are definitely unreal and totally enjoyable.

It's obvious that games like these are going to be compared to the likes of Super Smash Bros and Brawlhalla etc but in my opinion it stands up as game in it's own right and would go as far as saying it sets the benchmark for the others to follow. The overall gameplay has been overhauled making the fighting even more enjoyable with new animations and improved sequences. Again there is a varied roster of fighters to choose from with most of your favourite Nickelodeon cartoons included although there are some characters missing, you have Gerald but no Arnold ( like pizza without the cheese !! ) but as with the first game I'm sure there will be characters to come with the different DLC releases.

I can't say much bad about the game, it brings pretty much the same modes (apart from the new campaign) from the previous game and injects new life into it creating an improved experience, that is not in any way saying the last game needed improving it just means they've pushed the barrier further again. Fun gaming just like it should.
Graphics and Sound
In terms of graphics you have to admit the graphics are good, going for a similar style as the cartoons we are used to so players will get a feeling of familiarity when playing the game. The characters are very well crafted and look exactly as they do in the cartoons so gives the game an authentic feel.
The soundtrack of the game is good and gives you the punchy feeling of the game, the in game sounds are good and make you feel like you're in the cartoon yourself.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I really enjoyed the game I'd say more than the previous. I had a lot of fun fighting it out with the different characters and the inclusion of a campaign mode added more depth to the gameplay. The game is fun played with friends but still alot of fun played alone. The only gripe I'd have is that I'd like to see more of the iconic characters included in the roster - hopefully this is the plan for upcoming DLC releases - Rugrats - Chuckie and most definitely Arnold from Hey Arnold. But on the whole definitely recommend to get this in your collection.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐

I give Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 an excellent score of 5 ⭐, a good all round game that is alot of fun from start to finish. Play out the cartoon battles of your dreams and kick your friends butt - however you play you'll have a great time doing it.
