It looks like the soon upcoming live-action Netflix show isn't the only new media fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have to look forward to. A new fighting game based on the franchise is in the works and set to debut in 2025.
Maximum Entertainment revealed the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender fighting game during their roadmap walkthrough. Here, CEO Christina Seelye stated that the company is working with Paramount Consumer Products to develop "a competitive multiplayer fighting game" based on the franchise. As for when fans would get to play the game, Seelye mentioned that it would hit early access sometime in 2025.
While Maximum didn't say much more about the Avatar: The Last Airbender fighting game, there are some possible clues to what it'll be. Maximum has published other indie-scale 2D fighting games before, including one of the games in the video, Diesel Legacy. In addition, former Skullgirls lead developer Mike Zaimont is a known employee of the company, being listed as a game designer for Maximum on his LinkedIn profile.
All these point to the new Avatar: The Last Airbender game being a 2D fighting game, possibly even a tag-team one. However, all this is speculation at this point. That said, with a 2025 early access release date, Maximum will likely show off more in the not-too-distant future.
