Joel Cruz
It was actually his 59th birthday last February 5 (he celebrated on the Chinese New Year) but among the Chinese they do not celebrate when their birthdays ending with 9, 19, 29 and 38 and so his invitation said he was inviting friends, neighbors, employees, colleagues, business associates and the ninongs and ninangs of his eight children to his 60th natal day.
There were more than 400 who came to partake of the sumptuous dinner fare (which consisted of the "lutong bahay" of his late Nanay Milagros, and of course the traditional lechon since they are near to the La Loma lechonan), and enjoyed the exciting program that followed.

It was a remarkable celebration at his Chateau de Milagros mansion in Sampaloc. His abode was named in honor of his late Nanay Milagros. After dinner, a musical show was presented (at the poolside with LED background, LED being Joel's newest business venture), with world-class talents performing, and with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Rodel Colmenar. Among the performers were Myramae Meneses, who was a graduate of St. Scholastica's Conservatory of Music and Guildhall United Kingdom; those in "Walang Tulugan" like "Prince of Ballad" and "Miss Saigon" performer Gerard Santos; and Asia's Diva Dulce. The musical show was hosted by Jackie Blanco.
Malu Barry
A surprise performance came from Malou Barry who Joel supported in her past fundraising concerts.
The singing of the birthday song was beside a five-layer birthday cake made by Pinky Fernando's bakeshop. The birthday greeting also went to Aficionado's SVP and co-founder Remar de Leon.
The event was also highlighted with a raffle of fabulous prizes. The Top 10 included six cash prizes of P8,888.00 each, 60" LED TV, P88,888.00, franchise of Takoyatea worth P1,888,888.00 and Aficionado franchise worth P465,000. The winner of the top prize was Mrs. Universe titleholder Eimee Cragun, who is actually Joel's Kumare, being the ninang of one of his children. Eimee is always ready and willing to help Joel in his charitable endeavors.
A surprise part of the program was the performance to the "Sound of Music" of Joel's eight children
The celebration was aptly capped with a toast and fireworks display.
