As you trailblaze your way across the cosmos, you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet a variety of colorful characters. With this Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle guide, you'll be able to optimize the chaos-loving Masked Fool should she decide to join you aboard the Astral Express.
Sparkle is a Quantum element unit that walks the path of the Harmony in Honkai: Star Rail. Trailblazers will meet this intriguing character for the first time during the Penacony portion of the game's main story, and her banner was first run during the second half of patch 2.0.
Harmony units in Honkai: Star Rail have proven to be great additions to any team so far, as they can provide you with a huge bump in your damage output. So, let's go ahead and dive into Sparkle's abilities, relics, and light cones.
Sparkle Abilities
With Sparkle being a Harmony unit, her role on the team is to buff her allies' offensive capabilities. She can do this in a number of ways, but she stands out from other Harmony characters by raising the maximum number of Skill Points your party can have.
Here is a closer look at what Sparkle brings to the table:
Basic Attack – Monodrama
Deal a percentage of Sparkle's attack as Quantum damage to one enemy. Generates one Skill Point.
Skill – Dreamdiver
Advance target ally's action forward by 50% and increase their Crit Damage. The action advance will not take effect if Sparkle uses this on herself.
Ultimate – The Hero with a Thousand Faces
Give allies the Cipher status while generating four Skill Points. The Damage Boost effect from Sparkle's talent will be increased when triggered by a party member with Cipher.
Talent – Red Herring
Increase the maximum number of Skill Points when Sparkle is in the party. Also increases the damage of all allies when a party member consumes a Skill Point. This effect is stackable up to three times and will last two turns.
Technique – Unreliable Narrator
Grants Stealth to the party, making them undetectable by enemies in the overworld for 20 seconds. Entering a battle while in Stealth will generate three Skill Points.
Sparkle Traces
A character's traces in Honkai: Star Rail will further enhance their capabilities in combat. They can improve a unit's stats, boost the potency of skills, and unlock additional effects.
Here are some of the more notable Traces you can unlock for Sparkle:
- Almanac (Ascension 2) – Sparkle generates an additional 10 energy when using Basic Attack.
- Artificial Flower (Ascension 4) – The Crit Damage boost effect from Sparkle's skill will last until the start of the target's next turn.
- Nocturne (Ascension 6) – Increases the Attack of all allies by 15%. Additionally, increases the attack of Quantum element allies by an amount based on the number of Quantum units in the party.
- Sparkle's general traces focus on increasing her maximum HP, Effect Resist, and Crit Damage. The materials needed to upgrade this Harmony unit's traces can be farmed from
Best Sparkle Light Cones
The Harmony path is pretty stacked when it comes to Light Cone options. Here are some of the best ones to try for Sparkle.
Earthly Escapade
As Sparkle's signature Light Cone, this is likely to be her best-in-slot. This Light Cone gives the wearer a huge unconditional Crit Damage boost. On top of that, Crit Damage will be enhanced even further after the user consumes a set amount of Skill Points.
This is great for Sparkle since the Crit buffs she provides scale off of her own Crit Damage stat. But because it is her signature Light Cone, you will have to spend even more Stellar Jades to try and get it.
But the Battle Isn't Over
But the Battle Isn't Over will increase the wearer's Energy Regeneration Rate by a fixed amount. It will also generate 1 Skill Point when the wearer uses their Ultimate on an ally. This effect can be triggered once every two uses of an Ultimate. Furthermore, when the wearer uses their Skill, the next ally taking action will have their Damage boosted for one turn.
This Light Cone has a lot of overlap with Sparkle's skill set, making her even better at what she does. But the Battle Isn't Over is Bronya's signature Light Cone so it's always in the standard pool though its 5-star rarity can make it quite elusive. If you don't get lucky enough to pull it, you can purchase the Light Cone from the in-game store for 600 Undying Starlight.
Dance! Dance! Dance!
Arguably the best 4-star Light Cone in the game. With Dance! Dance! Dance! equipped, all allies will have their next action advanced forward after the wearer uses their Ultimate.
Sparkle can already mess around with the game's core mechanic and having her equipped with Dance! Dance! Dance! will give her a little more of that utility. The effect of Dance! Dance! Dance! may affect your speed tuning, but turn manipulation is always great for a turn-based game when used properly.
Planetary Rendezvous
Having a mono Quantum team is already one of the most powerful lineups you can have in Honkai: Star Rail and slapping Planetary Rendezvous on Sparkle will make it even stronger. With Planetary Rendezvous equipped, the damage output of every party member under the same element as this Light Cone's user will be boosted.
This is a permanent, unconditional effect so there's no need to think about reaching certain stat thresholds or meeting specific conditions.
Past and Future
If you haven't been able to pull any of the other Light Cones above, Past and Future is a solid free-to-play option. Having this 4-star Light cone on Sparkle will boost the damage of the next ally taking action after using her skill.
You can buy this Light Cone with Lucent Afterglow from the Light Cone Manifest in the Forgotten Hall. If you do Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction regularly, you'll be able to get this Light Cone to Superimposition V in no time.
Best Relics for Sparkle
While farming Relics in Honkai: Star Rail will use up a ton of that precious energy, getting the right pieces for your units will make them more effective in battle. Try to go for these sets when setting up your Sparkle.
4-pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace
This is the ideal relic set for not just units, but entire team comps that want to go fast. The 2-piece set effect will grant the wearer a 6% Speed increase while the full set effect will give the entire team a 12% Speed boost for one turn after the wearer uses their Ultimate.
If you decide to go with this set for Sparkle, just keep in mind that the 4-piece set effect may have an impact on any speed tuning you've done to your party.
2-pc Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, 2-pc Longevous Disciple
If you don't have enough decent pieces for a full Hackerspace set, or you just don't want to mess up your speed tuning, throwing in a couple of Longevous Disciple pieces is a viable option. Sparkle will still get that much-needed 6% Speed bonus from Hackerspace and the 2-piece effect from Longevous will provide her with a 12% increase to maximum HP.
The reason you'd settle for a 2-pc Longevous set is that Sparkle doesn't really need the Crit Rate bonus from the 4-pc effect. Plus it's only triggered by having the wearer's HP lowered and though Sparkle definitely looks like she can take a punch or two, you don't want her soaking up too much damage.
2-pc Broken Keel
When it comes to your Planar Ornaments, the Broken Keel set is always at the top of the list for support units. It gives the wearer additional Effect Resist and can provide your entire team with a boost to Crit Damage.
2-pc Penacony, Land of Dreams
The Penacony set is an excellent choice for Sparkle's Planar Ornaments, especially if you are using a mono Quantum team. This set will increase its user's Energy Regeneration Rate by 5% and increase the damage of all allies with the same element as the wearer by 10%.
2-pc Sprightly Vonwacq
Another option for increasing Sparkle's Energy Regeneration, this set also increases the rate at which you get Energy by 5%. When Sparkle has at least 120 Speed, which should always be the case, her action is advanced forward by 40% at the start of battle.
2-pc Fleet of the Ageless
If you're looking for more survivability on Sparkle, the Fleet of the Ageless set will give her a 12% bonus to maximum HP. It will also raise the entire party's Attack by 8% when Sparkle has at least 120 Speed.
When it comes to Sparkle's relic main stats, try getting Crit Damage for her body piece and Speed for her boots. As for her Planar Ornaments, aim for Energy Regeneration Rate on the rope and HP or Defense for the orb. While rolling for substats, try to go for even more Crit Damage, Speed, and anything that helps with survivability.
Sparkle Eidolons
Certain Eidolons in Honkai: Star Rail can be game-breaking when unlocked but they're never a necessity for any 5-star unit. If you're planning to go all out for Sparkle or just got really lucky, here's what you can expect from her Eidolons.
- Suspension of Disbelief (E1) – the Cipher effect applied by Sparkle's Ultimate also provides a 40% attack boost and lasts an extra turn.
- Purely Fictitious (E2) – each stack of Sparkle's talent will allow allies to ignore 8% of their target's Defense when attacking.
- Pipe Dream (E3) – increase Sparkle's Skill level by two and Basic Attack level by one.
- Life is a Gamble (E4) – Sparkle will generate one additional Skill Point after using her Ultimate and raises the party's maximum Skill Points to eight.
- Parallax Truth (E5) – increase the level of Sparkle's Ultimate and Talent by two.
- Narrative Polysemy (E6) – raises the Crit Damage boost from Sparkle's skill by 30% of her Crit Damage stat. This effect is spread to allies under Cipher when Sparkle uses her Skill or Ultimate.
Best Sparkle Teams
Due to the versatility of Sparkle's kit, she can find herself a nice spot on pretty much any team composition. As long as the party likes to burn through Skill Points, Sparkle will be able to boost your damage output by a significant amount.
Sparkle works best with DPS units that like to consume several Skill Points at a time like Imbibitor Lunae, Qinque, and Seele. If you've been lucky with other 5-star Quantum units in Honkai: Star Rail, then a team with Sparkle, Fu Xuan, Silver Wolf, and any of the Quantum DPS characters will have you running through content with ease.
And that's all the details on Sparkle's kit and how to build her. Good luck on your next pull session and don't forget to check on Pom-Pom from time to time.
Honkai: Star Rail is currently available on Android, iOS, Windows PC and PlayStation 5.
