At the recent PlayStation State of Play, Capcom finally gave us our first look at Monster Hunter Wilds' gameplay. The new video seemingly confirms some of the stuff hinted at in the initial reveal trailer, while also tossing out more breadcrumbs for fans to speculate about.
As initially hinted at, the Monster Hunter Wilds will have a weather system, with the gameplay trailer showing off a sandstorm, similar to the one seen in the reveal trailer.
The trailer confirms that the new player mount in Monster Hunter Wilds, called the Seikret, carries a second weapon that players can switch to in the middle of a hunt. The mount itself looks to play an important role in hunts, with the player character luring a large monster away from a group of other monsters using the mount.
The new Monster Hunter Wilds trailer also gives us a hint of the game's story on top of the gameplay. The game seems to focus on an expedition of sorts, searching for something related to a child – their parents perhaps.
Also, the trailer confirms that the game will be fully voiced, including the cat-like felynes who had previously only made cat noises in previous games, despite having actual dialogue. Yes, fully-voiced cat puns are seemingly coming.

Beyond the new Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay trailer, additional details were also revealed on an accompanying post on the PlayStation Blog.
For one, the post names the two large monsters seen in the trailer. The first is Doshaguma, which is described as highly territorial and can be very aggressive. In addition, this fanged beast also has a wide habitat range and travels in large packs.

The second new monster is the amphibian Chatacabra. The blog post explains that it uses a special adhesive saliva to attach ore and other materials to its front legs "to strengthen itself." This sounds like breaking Characabra's front legs when it has the ore attached will be a key element of hunting it.

Also named are two herbivores who will be roaming Monster Hunter Wilds's environments while players are hunting: Ceratonoth and Dalthydon. The former are the finned, stegosaur-like monsters seen in the launch trailer.
The blog post also reveals more Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay details. Not only will the Slinger from Monster Hunter World return, but it's been upgraded to the Hook Slinger, which can now be used to collect items from a distance.
In addition, the game will feature a new Focus Mode that helps identify and attack a monster's weak spots.

Storywise, the post reveals the names of the NPCs shown in the trailer. First is Alma, who seems to be the game's version of the Handler from Monster Hunter Worlds, managing the hunter's quests and accompanying them on the field.
Gemma is the game's blacksmith, who players will interact with to craft the all-important gear that hunters need in order to fight the strongest monsters.
Then there's Nata, the mysterious child shown in the trailer that the post says "will play a key role in the game's story."

Beyond that, the blog post seems to hint that the game will still retain the multiple locales of previous Monster Hunter games and will not go full open-world. Specifically, the post names one locale, the Windward Plains, and indicates that it's only "one such region."
Finally, the blog post also details the bonuses for players who've played Monster Hunter World and its Iceborne expansion. Specifically, saved data from World will net players two different sets of armor and weapons for their palicoes.

The new Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay trailer and accompanying blog post have provided a boon for fans starved for information since the Game Awards reveal. However, more info may be coming soon as Capcom is set to be part of Summer Game Fest 2024. Hopefully, we'll get to see more Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay then.
