Magandang balita sa lahat ng health fitness enthusiasts. Simula May 26, 2024, ang parehong lanes ng Roxas Boulevard mula Padre Burgos Circle hanggang Quirino Avenue sa Maynila ay sarado sa na sa trapiko dahil Idineklara na ito na 'car-free' mula 5 a.m. hanggang 9 a.m. upang bigyang daan ang mga ManileƱo na na gustong mag- walking, jogging, running, roller skating o biking at iba pa.
Personal nag-inspect si Mayor Honey Lacuna sa Roxas Boulevard at same katabing lugar nitong Linggo ng umaga bilang paghahanda sa implementasyon ng "Move Manila Car-Free Sundays By The Bay" na magsisimula na sa May 26.
"Our car-free Sundays will be different from others like it because our venue is Roxas Boulevard, the most beautiful and historic boulevard in the country. We inspected Roxas Boulevard to ensure that the road will be safe for all," pahayag ng alkalde.
Sinabi pa ni Lacuna na lalagdaan niya ang Ordinance No. 9047 na nag-i-institutionalized ng 'Move Manila' program at magde- designate sa kahabaan ng Roxas Boulevard mula Padre Burgos Street hanggang Quirino Avenue bilang car-free zone.
Sinamahan si Lacuna sa kanyang ginawang inspection, nina Vice Mayor Yul Servo, Councilor Philip Lacuna, may akda ng Ordinance No. 9047, Manila Police District Director Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, City Engineer Armand Andres, Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau head Dennis Viaje, City Electrician Randy Sadac, department of public services head Nicole Amurao, the mayor's spokesman Atty. Princess Abante, chief of staff Joshue Santiago at Manila Sports Council (MASCO) chief Roel de Guzman. Sila rin na mga nabanggit ang siyang magiging abala sa nasabing programa.
Ang nasabing programa ay dinisenyo upang i-advance ang "goal of becoming a livable city where healthy lifestyles and environmental preservation are ingrained habits," ayon pa kay Lacuna, na isa ring doctor.
Tiniyak naman ni Lacuna na maglalabas ang MTPB ng traffic advisories tungkol sa Move Manila, pati na rin ng guides kung saan naroon ang water stations, parking areas at first aid stations.
Samantala, sinabi ni Councilor Philip Lacuna na layunin ng kanyang ordinansa na i- promote ang health and wellness at i-introduce ang pollution-free fitness program sa Maynila.
Tiniyak din ng konsehal na ang re-routing ng traffic sa mga apektadong lugar sa panahong isasara ito ay maingat na plinano at pamahalaan ng wastong ahensya upang masiguro na ang commuters ay hindi maaabala sa kanilang biyahe, ganun ang delivery ng mga goods at services nang walang delay.
Ang mga light motor vehicles, ayon pa sa konsehal at ida- divert naman sa service roads sa Roxas Boulevard at iba pang o side streets, habang ang mga heavy motor vehicles ay ire-rerout sa Taft Avenue.
"Medical emergency first responders and hydration stations shall be deployed at strategic locations along Roxas Boulevard for the well-being of program participants and the general public gathered participating in the activities while necessary waste management measures shall be implemented before and after each event to ensure a waste-free and healthy environment for the conduct of the program activities," ayon pa kay Councilor Philip .
Ipinaliwanag pa ng konsehal na kinikilala ng local government Maynila ang kahalagahan ng physical activities upang ma-promote ang healthy and active lifestyle sa mga nasasakupan nito sa kapaligirang magkasama ang likas na yaman at gawa ng tao.
