Overview
As in the previous installments of the Construction Simulator series, the simulation impresses with a large number of originally licensed and detailed machines and vehicles from world-famous brands. With over 80 machines and vehicles and more than 20 manufacturers, Construction Simulator 4 offers an even wider range compared to its predecessor. The diverse fleet of vehicles offers the right selection to master the various challenges of the construction jobs.
For example, you can choose from cranes, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, rollers, road construction machines, various transport vehicles and, for the first time, concrete pumps for concrete work.

Review
If you have been following the blog for a while you will have noticed I have been lucky enough to work with Astragon Entertainment on a few reviews of their games and recently the Construction Simulator series (with another review on the way very soon) so when the opportunity came around to take a look at the latest mobile device title Construction Simulator 4 I jumped at the chance.
Being mainly a console gamer that is where I predominantly spend most of my gaming time however I do enjoy mobile games when I have a chance to relax where I enjoy the chance to escape with a bit of casual gaming. A lot of people turn their noses up at mobile gaming with the thought that it's not "proper gaming" but I don't see it that way it's purely another platform for me to enjoy and being a fan of the Construction Simulator series it's a great opportunity to take construction on the go.
The game is set in fictional Pinewood Bay which is based in the beautiful Canadian landscape surrounding you in spectacular scenery and vast landscapes, the game pretty much follows the formula of previous titles with you being tasked to complete various jobs that involve you either clearing or building in stages to complete set tasks using a whole host of fully licensed vehicles from some of the industry's biggest names from 20 manufacturers - including ATLAS, BELL Equipment, BENNINGHOVEN, Bobcat, BOMAG, CASE, Caterpillar, CIFA, DAF, HAMM, Kenworth, Liebherr, Mack Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, MEILLER Kipper, Nooteboom Trailers, PALFINGER, Scania, SCHWING-Stetter, STILL, VĂ–GELE, Wacker Neuson and WIRTGEN, having such a big selection of vehicles really gives the game an authentic feel.
I'll be honest I didn't find the game as immersive as the console version as obviously you are playing on a more powerful machine so it looks and runs smoother but having said that the game works perfectly well as a mobile title but the controls are a lot more tricky to get used to with you having the either use the sliders to accelerate and move or you can use the movement of your device (which I found tricky to use) then the touch screen is utilised for other functions, but after a while you get used to these controls and it becomes a nice way to waste a few hours of your downtime ( or even when you should be doing other things !!)
If you go into this with an open mind and look at it as a mobile game it really is alot of fun but if you go in comparing it to the console versions it will fall short but the game isn't trying to be something it isn't it is doing its job well at being a good mobile game and the level of enjoyment you get from the gameplay is high and I did enjoy playing the game and I will definitely continue to do so.
Another good part of the game is the multiplayer experience which allows you to undertake tasks alongside your friends which adds more fun to the overall experience, it's a great game to play alone but so much better with friends.
Graphics and Sound
In terms of graphics I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw, it isn't to the next gen standard of consoles but for a mobile device the graphics are pretty good with all the vehicles looking pretty life-like, the game worlds are relatively detailed again I am judging this on a mobile device so I'm not looking for blades of grass and details like that.
The soundtrack of the game is good and works well with the game, the sound effects of the game are a good standard and give an authentic feel to the game overall. The cutscenes are good and tell the story well consisting of a series of stills with narration I think it worked well to simplify the game play for the platform.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I enjoyed the experience of the game I got the similar enjoyment I get from the console games giving an immersive experience in the world of construction. The developers have done a good job at keeping the level of authenticity that we have become used to with the Construction Simulator games and it makes for a really fun game to play. It does have it's issues but I think that is more down to the platform than anything else, such as the controls being clunky but it doesn't put a dampener on the overall gameplay and I would recommend it especially as it is really good value on mobile for £4.99 (UK pricing)
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐
GOOD
I give Construction Simulator 4 a good score of 4 ⭐ a good mobile game that uses the power it has to the best of it's abilities. It's an enjoyable experience being able to take the Construction Simulator game out on the go with you - toilet breaks will never be the same again.
Construction Simulator 4 is available now on Nintendo Switch and Mobile devices.
