GMA Network Maintains Highest Trust Score Among PH News Brands for 4th Consecutive Year
GMA Network has once again secured its position as the most trusted news brand in the Philippines, according to the 2024 Digital News Report (DNR) by Oxford University's Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. This marks the fourth consecutive year that GMA has achieved this distinction.
With a brand trust rating of 72 percent, GMA Network outperformed other local media brands in the survey question, "How trustworthy would you say news from the following brands is?" The network's flagship AM radio station, Super Radyo DZBB 594 kHz, also led among radio brands with a 65 percent trust rating.
GMA's dominance extends to both online and offline platforms. GMA News Online boasts the highest weekly users among news brands surveyed at 45 percent, followed by ABS-CBN News Online at 40 percent and Philippine Daily Inquirer Online at 30 percent.
In terms of offline reach, which includes TV, radio, and print, GMA Network's news programs "24 Oras" and "SAKSI," along with GTV, garnered the highest weekly use at 47 percent. ABS-CBN and Philippine Daily Inquirer trailed at 40 percent and 27 percent, respectively.
The Digital News Report 2024, commissioned by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, aims to understand how news is consumed across various countries. The report is based on a YouGov survey of individuals from 47 countries, conducted in late January or early February 2024.
