Overview
Just as Jayden Amare Fox's quiet life on an East London estate looks to be steadily improving, things take a sudden dark and violent turn. Consumed by pain and obsessed with vengeance, his path crosses with that of an infamous hacker, wanted internationally for the crimes he is accused of.
What begins as a manhunt uncovers conspiracies of corruption and greed, and the consequences of playing god.
When a formidable common enemy emerges, secrets of a mysterious past that Jay has unknowingly been carrying his whole life are both a gift and a curse. The body count rises as the pair are forced to make sacrifices in a desperate attempt to save the little of what remains.
Review
From the moment I set eyes on the cover I straight away had a feeling that Catalyst was going to be a big piece of me and I wasn't disappointed. The story is gritty and intense straight away you get a underlying feeling that something is stirring in the background.
Jayden Fox seems like a typical guy just going about his normal life working in his normal job and having his normal worries but life is about to get alot darker and sinister for Jayden as his world is about to crumble down around him.
After the murder of his girlfriend revenge is all the Jayden is looking for and he will go through anyone and anything to get that revenge.
The character of Jayden reminded me of a Jason Statham crossed with Vinnie Jones type gritty hard man character and being a big fan of Statham and Jones I felt I enjoyed the story more, the gritty dark energy that comes from the pages and perfectly suits the gritty East London street setting.
I really liked how the story isn't just another gritty London gang story, that to be fair I still would've liked, this had the gritty edge that you find in British gang flicks and gave it a superhero edge that elevates the story but still gives it a realistic feel.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I was pleasantly surprised with the content firstly expecting just your usual gang related story but you get so much more, an intense gritty story that almost feels like real life, the strong characters elevate the story and allow you to become invested in the pages. Would fully recommend to anyone that likes British gang films.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
