Overview
One little push is all it takes . . .
Mortuary technician Cassie Raven is shocked to find the body of Bronte, a talented singer on the brink of stardom, in her fridge. The two of them were once schoolmates, although not exactly friends . . .
The police say Bronte jumped from her tenth-floor apartment, but Cassie's instincts are telling her it's murder. The death ignites a social media frenzy, and when police watchdog Phyllida Flyte is sent in to assess the handling of the case she is the only one willing to listen to Cassie.
They join forces but as Cassie delves dangerously deep into Bronte's personal history, more blood must be shed before the terrible truth is exposed.

Review
My favourite type of thrillers are those based in a modern setting and set in London or an area I know of it just makes the stories more relatable and you seem to be able to immerse yourself deeper into the book.
Dead Fall is exactly this type of thriller, a dark story based in Camden revolving around mortuary assistant Cassie Raven who seems to be happily peddling along on the bike ride of life as most of us do going through the motions and pretty much just functioning that is until one day as she goes through the mortuary stores introducing herself to her clients like she always does but one particular introduction stops her dead in her tracks.
The body of famous singer Bronte, but Cassie remembers this face from school they weren't the best of friends but weren't enemies either, but Cassie certainly didn't expect to see her on the mortuary slab.
With Bronte having shall we say a colourful life which is quite openly documented in the media judgements are made straight to way as to the causes of death but certain things catch Cassie's eye which makes her think this isn't just a case of another famous druggie jumping to her death but she must convince those around her to look closer, it's not until Phyllida Flyte is sent to look at the case does anyone actually listen to Cassie, but Cassie will soon find out that she may not have wanted to delve into Bronte's past after all.
Although this book had quite an intense story the writing from AK Turner kind of made it easier to read, she writes in such a way that makes the reading flow quite naturally and with the chapters being relatively short you go through it quite quickly. This dark thriller was definitely one of my favourites I've read and I will look for to seeing more from AK Turner as I really enjoyed her writing style.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I really enjoyed this book it had a intensity to the writing that didn't let up throughout, the characters were strong and really worked well together to create a great storyline. The book didn't feel a heavy read and the chapters were certainly manageable, I would definitely recommend this book.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
