Hoyoverse is rolling back a bug fix for Genshin Impact's Neuvillette after players complained that it made the character feel clunky. In addition, the company is also giving away 1,600 free Primogems as compensation.
In the recently released 4.8 update for Genshin Impact, Hoyoverse added a "bug fix" for Neuvillette, one of the game's top-tier DPS characters. The bug in question allowed the character's charged attack to deal damage to a wide spread of enemies if players spun their cameras as quickly as they could.
According to Hoyoverse, this was something never intended for the character. As such, the 4.8 update slowed down Neuvillette's turning speed when using his charged attack, while giving players 100 Primogems as compensation for the bug.
However, the bug fix was not well received by players, who felt that the reduced turning speed made Neuvillette feel "clunky." In response, Hoyoverse is now rolling the fix back.
"After the fix went live and Travelers experienced it firsthand, players provided a lot of feedback regarding the fix," explained the studio in a lengthy response on X, formerly Twitter. "Some Travelers mentioned that using Neuvillette's Charged Attack now felt more clunky, which was indeed an oversight on our part."
"Therefore, after gathering and compiling feedback and suggestions from Travelers, we have decided to rollback this fix in a subsequent update and issue a compensation of Primogems ×1,600 to Travelers accordingly," it added.
The 1,600 Primogems coming with the rollback of bug fix to Neuvillette represents arguably the biggest payout Hoyoverse has made for such a move. The previous times Hoyoverse has paid out Primogems for rolling back a bug, it usually only paid out 100 primogems.
The timing for the payout is also fortuitous. Genshin Impact is getting its big 5.0 update soon. Not only will this update add the new Natlan region, but it'll also be adding a host of new characters for players to roll for over the coming year. These 1,600 primogems should go a long way to helping players roll for these characters. (Read: New Genshin Impact 5.0 teaser gives us our first good look at the Pyro Archon)
