You know, we often hear people say, "Life is short. Enjoy it." And it's true, right? Life really does fly by so quickly. We're encouraged to grab onto every moment, to laugh, to love, and to make the most out of our days. It's all about living in the now and cherishing the beauty of today.
But there's something we sometimes forget: "Eternity is long. Prepare for it." This isn't just a catchy phrase—it's a profound truth that can change the way we live our lives.
Think about it. Our time here on Earth, no matter how many years we get, is just a blink compared to eternity. James 4:14 tells us our life is like a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. It's fleeting. Yet, what comes after this life is forever.
So, while it's wonderful to enjoy the present, we shouldn't lose sight of what's ahead. Jesus talked about this in Matthew 6:19-20, where He advised us not to focus on storing treasures on Earth, but rather to store treasures in Heaven. The things we chase after here—money, success, material things—they're all temporary. But the things we do for God? Those last forever.
Preparing for eternity means building a relationship with God now. It means trusting in Jesus and accepting His gift of eternal life (John 3:16). It's about living in a way that reflects His love and grace, not just for our own sake, but to show others the way too.
I know life gets busy. We're all juggling a million things, and it's easy to get caught up in the hustle. But let's take a moment to pause and think about what really matters. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:18 to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, because what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Imagine the peace that comes from knowing you're not just living for today, but for something far greater. Imagine the joy of knowing that your life has eternal significance. That's the kind of perspective that brings true fulfillment.
So yes, enjoy your life. Laugh, love, and embrace every moment. But also remember to prepare for what's beyond this life. Build your faith, love others deeply, and live with an eternal perspective.
Because while life is short, eternity is unimaginably long. And the choices we make now can have an everlasting impact.
Take care, and God bless!
Until He comes,
Joshua
