When Bandai Namco first revealed that Tekken 8 would have Polish politician-cum-karateka Lidia Sobieska as its second DLC character, it deigned to give out her release date.
Now, months since her Evo Japan reveal, the company finally revealed when Tekken 8 would get Lidia. The fist-fighting Prime Minister is coming to Tekken 8 on July 25.
First revealed for the previous game back in February of 2021, Lidia has become one of the more well-liked Tekken 7 newcomers. This was thanks in part to her unique background as a politician who actually competes in martial arts on top of being enjoyable to play, providing a take on karate that's different enough from previous "karate-like" styles already in the game.
In Tekken 8, Lidia returns as a DLC character yet again, this time as the second character from the game's first year of content. With her release, Tekken 8 will only have two more characters left for its first year — one for the Fall and another in the Winter.
Which characters will take up these two remaining slots? Bandai Namco has yet to confirm. That said, series head honcho Katsuhiro Harada has been quick to acknowledge the popularity of some characters, including Filipino kickboxer Josie Rizal.
Tekken 8 is currently available for PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series consoles.
