Overview
Piracy. Romance. Revenge. Across the seas of the seventeenth century, two seafarers are forced to fight for their lives. The sequel to The City of Tears, The Ghost Ship is the third novel in the Joubert Family Chronicles from bestselling author Kate Mosse.
The Barbary Coast, 1621. A mysterious vessel floats silently on the water ― its hull splintered and its sails tattered and burnt. For months the Ghost Ship has hunted pirates to liberate enslaved prisoners. Now it, too, finds itself hunted.
But the ship's crew hides a secret, and the stakes could not be higher. The bravest among them are not who they seem: if arrested, they will hang for their alleged crimes. Can they survive their journey and escape their fate?
A sweeping and epic love story, The Ghost Ship is a tale of adventure and buccaneering, love and revenge, stolen fortunes, piracy and hidden secrets on the high seas.

Review
A bit of a different pace for me this time around but seeing as I love historical tales and always have had a inclining for a good swashbuckling adventure a book from Kate Mosse seemed the perfect way to go.
The Ghost Ship is the 3 part of the Joubert family trilogy, I personally haven't read the other books in the series and I didn't feel like I was missing any of the story it did feel like a stand alone book. The story felt very different in the way that the lead was a feisty young woman Louise who sets out to captain her very own ship which in itself would take different level of guts and plenty of the proverbial fire in the belly to achieve what she sets out to do.
In an introduction to Kate Mosse for me I found her world building almost artistic as she tapped into my imagination and allowed me to picture the world she has created which in turn enabled me to become more invested in the overall story the eeriness of the vessel that provides the intrigue that drives the story which also did a great job at highlighting the struggle that Louise had to go through especially in 17th Century Europe, bringing a powerful and empowering message.
This isn't your normal swashbuckling testosterone filled adventure full of bravado it gives a more powerful layered story that feels relevant to today's world.
With this book being part of a series I was glad that it felt like a stand alone book but I will now look to read the other books in the series to give me the overall story of the world.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I enjoyed the book it felt different to other books I have read with a similar theme, this was a more powerful intense story with an empowering message. If like me you haven't read the other books in the series don't be put off as the book reads fine as a stand alone. Fans of Kate Mosse will love this book but also again like me it's a great introduction to her work that will definitely create more fans of her writing.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐
GOOD
I give The Ghost Ship a good score of 4 ⭐, a powerful story that gives an insight into personal struggle but also paints an eerie intriguing world. A great piece of writing allowing you to immerse yourself deep into the world, the written words are almost artistic as they supply the backdrop for this epic story.
