SNK brought Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves to Gamescom this week, and while the more obvious news is the reveal of Mai Shiranui, the company also made one very important reveal. City of the Wolves will come with Color Edit mode when it launches on April 24, 2025.
Color Edit, a mode where players are allowed to change the color palettes of their character, used to be a more common feature when the games were still using 2D sprite graphics. Indeed, SNK's last game with the feature was the King of Fighters XIII, also its last sprite-based game.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves' addition of color edit mode makes it the only the second 2D fighter with 3D graphics with the feature, following 2011's Street Fighter X Tekken.
Of course, Color Edit isn't the only big reveal for City of the Wolves. SNK announced that pre-orders are now live for the game. Notable, its Special Edition – which includes the base game, the first season pass and three days of early access – can be pre-ordered for only $59.99 (PhP 3,385 as of reporting time).
The schedule for the DLC characters is as follows:
- DLC Character 1 – Summer 2025
- DLC Character 2 – Summer 2025
- DLC Character 3 – Fall 2025
- DLC Character 4 – Winter 2025
- DLC Character 5 – Early 2026
And of course, as previously mentioned, SNK also revealed that iconic character Mai Shiranui will be part of City of the Wolves launch roster. (Read: Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves adds series veteran Billy Kane)
