GMA Network Stars Triumph at 40th PMPC Star Awards for Movies
GMA Network artists and productions were recognized at the 40th PMPC Star Awards for Movies held on July 21 at the Henry Lee Theater, Ateneo de Manila University.
The film "Firefly," a big winner at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and the 2024 Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), continued its success with several awards from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC). Sparkle artist Ysabel Ortega, who played Erika in "Firefly," was named New Movie Actress of the Year. Euwenn Mikael, who portrayed Tonton, won the Movie Child Performer of the Year award. Neil Daza was recognized as the Movie Cinematographer of the Year for his work on the film.
Sparkle artist Dustin Yu received the New Movie Actor of the Year award for his performance in "Shake Rattle And Roll Extreme – Rage." Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes won Movie Actor of the Year for "Rewind," while Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards earned the same award for "Five Breakups and a Romance." Gladys Reyes was honored as Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for her role in the comedy film "Here Comes the Groom."
Several Kapuso personalities also received Special Awards. Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera were named Takilya King and Queen for their record-breaking movie "Rewind." Alden Richards and Julia Montes won the Movie Loveteam of the Year award for "Five Breakups and a Romance." Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. was named Darling of the Press, Marian Rivera was the Female Face of the Night, and Alden Richards was the Male Shining Personality of the Night.
The PMPC Star Awards for Movies, organized by the Philippines Movie Press Club Inc., honor outstanding contributions to the local movie industry.
