Overview
People are dying in the West Yorkshire city of Fordley, from the kind of random, everyday accidents that happen in a busy city.
Or are they? Forensic pathologist Elle Richardson, doesn't think so. She believes there's a serial killer, stalking the streets. But with no hard evidence to go on, West Yorkshire police are treating them as unfortunate deaths.
Convinced she's right, Elle turns to her good friend, Forensic Psychologist Doctor Jo McCready. Working as a police consultant, Jo's methods have proved successful in the past. But this time, she'll have to go it alone, with none of the resources or backup of a major enquiry team.
If this is murder, Jo McCready must work out the link between these seemingly unrelated deaths - then get inside the mind of a killer.
As the body count rises, the clock is ticking down and Jo's profile leads her to one shocking and deadly conclusion. When people she cares about are put at risk, it's as personal as it gets and Jo must risk everything to win a deadly game of psychological cat and mouse. Can she prove her theory and prevent anyone else from dying before it's too late?

Review
When you're looking for a good thriller normally the title is a good indication of what you're going to get, Invisible Dead just straight away screamed thriller to me and with it being set in one of my favourite places West Yorkshire the I really just had to take a look.
The story follows forensic pathologist Elle Richardson as she becomes suspicious about the amount of deaths in the local area, put down to circumstance Elle has more sinister suspicions that there is a serial killer on the loose she is almost certain but proving it is the difficult part that's where she needs to get the help of friend Dr Jo McCready forensic psychologist who mainly works as a consultant to police forces so she is perfectly placed to offer her opinion, whether people will want it is another matter all together. The story was definitely impactful and gripping but in more of a Sunday afternoon murder mystery on the Tele and that really made it more enjoyable for me, making me think I'd love to see this adapted for the screen one day.
What I liked most about the character of Jo McCready she wasn't your average forensic sleuth you know the type all prim and proper, Jo seemed a bit more edgy, more down to earth, more "real" kind of thing and that made the character far more relatable and allowed me to get deeper into the story. Although this is a follow on from the other 3 books it felt like a stand alone novel and I didn't really feel like anything important was missing but in all fairness I probably will get onto the first three in the series aswell just to tie up the loose ends in the character background that type of thing.
I enjoyed Lesley McEvoy's writing style, it had a natural flow to it that allowed the story to naturally grow ensuring that the reader could get the foundations before the story took off. I felt that the characters all worked really well together and the two main characters Elle and Jo worked especially well. From here on in I'd definitely say I'm a fan of Lesley's work.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I felt the book had a impactful theme to it that covered some issues that people face on the daily in real life, the story wasn't all doom and gloom with the light hearted moments mixed in well to refresh the pallet. The length of the chapters were reasonably short which I always find better as it doesn't seem as daunting then when you go through them. I would definitely recommend this book to those thriller fans out there it was a great read.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐

Note on the Author
Lesley McEvoy was born and bred in Yorkshire and has had a passion for writing in one form or another all her life. The writing took a backseat as Lesley developed her career as a Behavioural Analyst / Profiler and Psychotherapist - setting up her own Consultancy business and therapy practice. She has written and presented extensively around the world for over 25 years specialising in behavioural profiling and training, with a wide variety of organisations.
The corporate world provided unexpected sources of writing material when, as Lesley said - she found more psychopaths in business than in prison! Lesley's work in some of the UK's toughest prisons was where she met people whose lives had been characterised by drugs and violence and whose experiences informed the themes she now writes about. She lives in Cheshire with her partner.
