CCP Presents 'Luminaries and Legacies' Exhibit on September 20, 2024
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) proudly presents "Luminaries and Legacies: CCP Gawad Para sa Sining 2024 & Other CCP Institutional Awards," a week-long exhibition opening today, September 20, 2024, at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati.
The "Luminaries and Legacies" exhibit celebrates the CCP's esteemed role in honoring outstanding achievements in Philippine arts and culture. Divided into two captivating sections, the exhibit showcases both the 2024 CCP Gawad Para sa Sining awardees and other prestigious institutional awards granted by the CCP.
The CCP Gawad Para sa Sining is the highest recognition awarded by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, highlighting Filipino artists and cultural workers who have made remarkable contributions to their respective fields.
The Gawad CCP Exhibit Section features selected works and achievements from this year's honorees: Jose Iñigo Homer "Joey" Ayala, Generoso "Gener" Caringal, Mike de Leon, Marilyn Gamboa, Gino Gonzales, Pete Lacaba Jr., the Loboc Children's Choir, Julie Lluch, Mario O'Hara, and Lea Salonga.
The section also includes posthumous tributes to two cultural champions, Sen. Edgardo J. Angara and former CCP Trustee Zenaida "Nedy" R. Tantoco.
The second section of the exhibit presents a curated display of the CCP's institutional trophies from 1970 to the present. These trophies, crafted by renowned Filipino visual artists—many of whom are CCP Thirteen Artists Awardees—are celebrated not only as symbols of achievement but also as artistic masterpieces. Among the notable designs are those by National Artists Napoleon Abueva, Abdulmari Imao, Arturo Luz, along with contributions from acclaimed artists such as Juan Alcazaren, Agnes Arellano, Eduardo Castrillo, Charlie Co, Louie Cordero, Peter de Guzman, Leo Gerardo Leonardo, Leeroy New, Impy Pilapil, Dan Raralio, Solomon Saprid, Mac Valdezco, and Eric Zamuco.
The "Luminaries and Legacies" exhibit invites visitors to reflect on the profound artistic contributions and enduring impact of these honorees and the CCP in shaping the cultural landscape of the Philippines.
The exhibit officially opens today, September 20, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., and will run until September 27, 2024, at the Jaime Zobel Sr. Hall, 5th floor of the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati.
