The Astral Express returns to the Xianzhou Luofu in the latest chapters of Honkai Star Rail. Aside from catching up with some old friends, the Nameless are introduced to some brand-new characters, including the Merlin's Claw of the Xianzhou Yaoqing. In this guide, we'll be helping you build your Feixiao by going over her abilities, equipment, and more in Honkai Star Rail.
The Arbiter-General is affiliated with the Wind element and follows the path of the Hunt. She excels at dealing single-target damage, making her a top contender for endgame content like Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadows.
Feixiao's offense comes mainly from Follow-Up Attacks. While this is the general's primary source of damage, she also stands to benefit from teammates who like to attack frequently with follow-ups. This team archetype was already quite potent before, but adding Feixiao into the mix will take it to another level.
Feixiao Abilities
Let's take a closer look at the general's skills to better understand how her moves work in battle.
- Boltsunder (Basic Attack) – Deal Wind damage to a single target based on Feixiao's ATK and recover one Skill Point.
- Waraxe (Skill) – Deal Wind damage to a single target based on ATK and immediately trigger a Follow-Up Attack from Feixiao's Talent.
- Terrasplit (Ultimate) – Perform a series of attacks that deal Wind damage to target enemy. Choose between Boltsunder Blitz and Waraxe Skyward for each strike. Boltsunder Blitz will deal increased damage to enemies that are Weakness Broken while Waraxe Skyward deals more damage to targets that are not Weakness Broken. Toughness reduction for this attack will ignore the target's Weakness Type.
- Thunderhunt (Talent) – Feixiao will gain one point of Flying Aureus for every two attacks launched by an ally. Six points are consumed when using Ultimate but Feixiao can hold up to 12 points of Flying Aureus. The general will also launch a Follow-Up Attack on a target attacked by an ally once per turn. Triggering this will increase Feixiao's damage output by 60% for two turns.
- Stormborn (Technique) – Enter the Onrush state for 20 seconds when activated. While in this state, enemies within a certain range will be pulled in and movement speed increases by 50%. Attacking an enemy to start a battle while in the Onrush state will deal critical Wind damage based on Feixiao's ATK to all targets at the start of each wave. The damage multiplier from this will increase with each additional enemy pulled in during Onrush.
Feixiao Traces
Upgrading a character's traces is essential if you plan on bringing them to a fight in Honkai Star Rail. Here are the enhancements you can get for the Merlin's Claw by using up some of your resources.
- Heavenpath (Ascension 2) – Gain three points of Flying Aureus at the start of battle. Gain one point of Flying Aureus of the Follow-Up Attack from Feixiao's Talent was not triggered during the previous turn.
- Formshift (Ascension 4) – Ultimate damage will also be considered Follow-Up Attack damage. Increases the CRIT DMG of Follow-Up Attacks by 36%.
- Boltcatch (Ascension 6) – Increase Feixiao's ATK by 48% for three turns after using her Skill.
Unlocking the general's minor Traces will increase her ATK, CRIT Rate, and Defense stats. You can farm her Trace materials from the SoulGlad Scorchsand Audition Venue Calyx in Penacony.
Best Light Cones for Feixiao
Honkai Star Rail characters who follow the path of the Hunt have plenty of great options when it comes to Light Cones. Here are the top choices for the Merlin's Claw.
I Venture Forth to Hunt
This is Feixiao's signature Light Cone so it was made with the general's kit in mind. Having this equipped will give the user a 15% CRIT Rate boost at Superimposition 1. Whenever the user launches a Follow-Up Attack, they gain a stack of Luminflux. Each stack will allow the user to ignore a portion of their target's DEF when dealing Ultimate damage. This will provide a significant increase to Feixiao's overall damage output since her playstyle revolves around dealing damage with Follow-Up Attacks and Ultimates.
Baptism of Pure Thought
If you were able to pick up Dr. Ratio's Light Cone then you're in luck since it works great for Feixiao. It provides an unconditional CRIT DMG increase for Hunt characters. CRIT DMG is further increased up to three times with every debuff inflicted on the target. When the user's Ultimate is used, they will gain the Disputation effect which increases their damage output and allows Follow-Up Attacks to ignore a portion of their target's DEF for two turns. This can be applied to Feixiao's Ultimate since it's also considered a Follow-Up Attack after unlocking her Ascension 4 Trace.
Cruising in the Stellar Sea
This is a solid option for those who haven't been able to get lucky with limited 5-star Light cones. It provides an unconditional CRIT Rate buff that is doubled when attacking enemies that are below 50% HP. The Light Cone also gives a substantial ATK buff for two turns whenever the wearer defeats an enemy. You can get this LC from the Herta shop so all you need to do is clear Simulated Universe or Divergent Universe at least once a week and you'll eventually be able to take it to max Superimposition.
Swordplay
With this equipped, a Hunt character will have their damage boosted every time they hit the same target. This effect can stack up to five times but will be dispelled when the user switches to a new target. The downside to this LC is that it can take a while to ramp up its damage bonus but Feixiao can speed this up with her Follow-Up Attacks and multiple-hit Ultimate.
Return to Darkness
If you don't mind spending a bit in Honkai Star Rail, then picking up this battle pass LC is worth considering. It gives the user a CRIT Rate boost and a chance to dispel a buff from their target when landing a critical hit. You're going to want a ton of CRIT Rate on Feixiao so Return to Darkness will help you reach your target while providing a bit of utility.
Best Feixiao Relics
Aside from Light Cones, you'll need to equip your characters with some relics to boost their capabilities in battle. Here are the best ones for Feixiao.
Wind-Soaring Valorous
The Arbiter-General can take advantage of everything these relics have to offer, so try and go for a full four-piece set. With this equipped, Feixiao will gain a 12% ATK boost and an increase to CRIT Rate by 6%. On top of that, the wearer will also gain a 36% Ultimate damage buff for one turn after launching a Follow-Up Attack.
Eagle of Twilight Line
Having four pieces of the Eagle set equipped on Feixiao can net you some good results. It boosts the wearer's Wind damage by 10% and pushes them up the turn order queue after using an Ultimate. This allows the general to attack more frequently, speeding up the process of accumulating Flying Aureus points.
Ashblazing Grand Duke
If you don't have a full set of Wind-Soaring Valorous available, you can opt to mix in two pieces of the Ashblazing Grand Duke set. Dedicating two slots to this set will give you a 20% damage increase for Follow-Up Attacks. Feixiao won't be able to take full advantage of the four-piece effect from this set, so you're better off sticking with just two.
Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves
While equipped with this Planar Ornament set, the user will gain a buff called Merit whenever an ally launches a Follow-Up Attack. This can stack up to five times with each stack increasing damage from Follow-Ups by 5%. When the character wearing this set reaches the maximum Merit stacks, their CRIT DMG will also increase by 25%. Feixiao works best on teams that dish out frequent Follow-Up Attacks so you'll have a lot of uptime on the buff from this set.
Inert Salsotto
Another great Planar Ornament set for Feixiao since it provides an unconditional CRIT Rate buff of 8%. If the user has at least 50% CRIT Rate, damage from their Follow-Ups and Ultimates will increase by 15%. Hitting this threshold should be no problem for Feixiao since she has a lot of CRIT Rate Traces.
When diving into the caverns to farm for these relics, aim for the following main stats for Feixiao:
- Body: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
- Feet: Speed
- Rope: Attack
- Orb: Wind Damage
As for the substats, try to get a good mix of CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Speed, and ATK percentage.
Feixiao Eidolons
The Arbiter-General from the Xianzhou Yaoqing is currently one of the heaviest hitters in Honkai Star Rail. With a ton of extra resources and a bit of luck, you can make her even more powerful by obtaining duplicates of her to unlock her Eidolons. Here's what each one will give you.
- Skyward I Quell (E1) – Increase Ultimate damage by 10% with each use of Boltsunder Blitz or Waraxe Skyward. This effect can stack up to five times and lasts until the end of Feixiao's Ultimate.
- Moonward I Wish (E2) – Every Follow-Up Attack launched by an ally will now provide one point of Flying Aureus. This can be triggered up to six times per turn.
- Starward I Bode (E3) – Raise Ultimate and Basic Attack levels by two.
- Stormward I Hear (E4) – Follow-Up Attacks triggered by Feixiao's Talent will have a 100% increase in Toughness Reduction. It will also increase her Speed by 8% for two turns.
- Heavenward I Leap (E5) – Raise Skill and Talent levels by two.
- Homeward I Near (E6) – All-Type RES PEN for Feixiao's Ultimate damage is increased by 20%. The damage multiplier for her Talent's Follow-Up Attack is increased by 140% and will be considered Ultimate damage.
Best Feixiao Teammates and Synergies
The Merlin's Claw is a monstrous force on the battlefield but she'll need some reliable teammates at her side to unleash her full potential. Here are the best characters to have on a squad with Feixiao.
Robin
Arguably the best Harmony character in the game right now, Robin works especially well with Follow-Up teams. She's an amazing support that elevates the entire party's offensive output while dealing quite a bit of damage herself.
Robin also has the ability to move all allies up the turn queue with her Ultimate, making fast clears in Honkai Star Rail that much easier. Feixiao prefers a faster playstyle, so these two work really well together.
Topaz
Another name that always comes up when building a Follow-Up team is Miss Topaz. She can improve the damage of Follow-Up Attacks launched by the team with a debuff from her Skill while dishing out some solid personal damage herself.
Frequent Follow-Up Attacks from her faithful companion Numby will provide Feixiao with a ton of Flying Aureus points, so have fun spamming the general's Ultimate in a fight.
Aventurine
Unless you're aiming for 0-cycle clears in Memory of Chaos, pretty much every team you build in Honkai Star Rail will have a sustain character. Aventurine's kit allows him to apply shields on the entire team quite frequently while launching Follow-Up Attacks.
Given how Aventurine's abilities work, he can keep the team alive while enabling Feixiao's offense by giving her even more Flying Aureus points. (Read: Honkai Star Rail Aventurine – abilities, relics, and light cones)
March 7th (Hunt)
The Hunt version of March 7th is an amazing sub-DPS unit that can give the general some great buffs and plenty of Flying Aureus points. And the best part about this iteration of March is that you can get her to E6 for free.
Another reason to put Hunt March on your team is that she's extremely Skill Point positive. You'll only have to use her Skill once per fight and from there she'll be generating Skill Points with her Basic Attack every turn.
And that's our guide on how to build Feixiao in Honkai Star Rail. The Arbiter-General is a top-tier DPS character that can easily carry an account through some of the game's more difficult content, so have fun cutting down enemies with her Gunblades and Waraxe.
