Myra Manibog: A Former Sexy Star Facing Health Challenges; Fundraising Concert to be Held
Myra Manibog, born Geraldine Zervoulakos Quitalag on February 5, 1969, gained fame in the '80s as an actress and was part of the group known as the "Softdrink Beauties." Alongside the late Pepsi Paloma, she was managed by talent manager Rey Dela Cruz .
However, Myra is currently battling serious health issues. She has been confined at the Makati Medical Center for over a month due to a liver and abdominal abscess. The medical bills have already exceeded PHP 1 million, and this amount doesn't even include the doctor's fees . Her condition is critical, with unstable blood pressure and low oxygen levels, putting her at risk of organ failure or even a coma.
Myra and her husband previously lived in Japan, where they faced drug-related problems. They have four children—three boys and one girl named Alekzandra Nicolle.
In an effort to support Myra, her friends have organized a fundraising show scheduled for September 6 at the Mellow D Bar located at the 3rd Flr. ABJ Bldg. Don A Roces Ave., Diliman, Quezon City. Ticket price is P350 with performances by Alekzandra, Leo Romero, Marc Velasco, Nisha Bedana, Jumpstart, Moonjive, Czetera Band and Tricia. The proceeds from this event will go toward helping cover her medical expenses.
Before her health challenges, Myra was known for her roles in various films and TV shows. She appeared in the popular drama series "Maalaala Mo Kaya" in 1991. Prior to that, she starred in movies such as "Fortunato Salas: Kilabot ng Pampanga" (1984) and "Oras ng Kagitingan" (1986) . She also played a role in "Alyas Pusa: Ang Taong May 13 Buhay" (1988), directed by Pablo Santiago and featuring lead stars Ramon Revilla, Alona Alegre, and Angela Perez.
Her filmography from the mid-'80s includes titles like "Yvonne," "Ligaw ng Kapalaran," "Daughters of Eve," and "Alyas Junior Bawang, Mad Killer" (all made in 1985). In 1986, she appeared in movies such as "Mga Tigre sa Gubat," "Hindi Mapigil Ang Init," "Isang Kumot, Tatlong Unan," and "Oras ng Kagitingan".
Beyond her acting career, Myra transitioned away from showbiz in 2000 and pursued a corporate job as a marketing manager.
Let's keep Myra Manibog in our thoughts and hope for her healing and recovery.
