Overview
The street in Gealblath, Scotland, was the same as it had been every day. None of the players had changed. None of the scenery. It was like a painting on a wall.
And there, where the path began to dip, the school bus arrived at the place it normally arrived. It would be there for two minutes only, and so Charlie began to jog. He spotted his friend sitting near the rear window and an empty seat beside him.
The fact there remained an empty seat soon became a fact that haunted the town he lived in.'
It was on a foggy day in 1988 that Charlie Cooper made his way to the school bus for the last time.
Ten years have passed since then, and what remains is a town faded by missing person posters. An empty seat in the local police station. A father who has become an unwanted ghost, sipping cold ones in the corner of a woodland tavern.
And, apart from that, there is a girl. Amee Florence is thirteen, with mousy grey hair and a cool, pale complexion. She's starting here first day at school, but she's nothing like the other children. There's a secret behind her eyes that she keeps hidden. A secret that could help unfog that day in 1988, and reveal the real reason Charlie Cooper never came home.

Review
The best type of thrillers are the ones that build up to the end game, the better stories are ones that keep you thinking as you're reading you are expecting something to happen but don't quite know when.
The book starts off describing the day to day of a local school in Gealblath, Scotland where bullies rule the roost and the quiet ones get eaten up, ones like Charlie Cooper trying their best to get on in life but gets smacked down at every point making life just unbearable. A certain young lady named Amee Florence that has just moved to the area could well change things for Charlie certainly giving him a reason to smile for a change.
The book sets the foundations well at the beginning and allows the story to grow, the horror and thriller elements work well together as the story progresses at a decent pace. The book almost reads like an early 90s horror/thriller film you know the teen ones that were all the rage back then but I don't mean that in a bad way I meant it in definitely a good way as I was a big fan of those (I mean like I know What You Did Last Summer style)
The book itself is a bit of a monster in it's physical form and does look a bit overpowering but don't let that put you off the style of writing captures you more or less instantly so you don't really feel you're reading a big book and I felt it easy to pick up and put down which suited me better. If you enjoy thrillers that takes time to build then you'll definitely enjoy this and Edgar D Jackson's work, it felt easy to get into and easy to lose yourself in the story within the darkened pages.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐
GOOD
I give Seeing Dead a good score of 4 ⭐, a good thriller that is a bit of a slow burner at first but perfectly gathers pace. Definitely recommend but make sure you make plenty of room on your shelf.
