Even before the game launched, a lot of comparisons were made between Stellar Blade and NieR: Automata. After all, both are action RPGs with attractive female cyborg protagonists in a post-apocalyptic world. Now, both properties are crossing over with the confirmation that Stellar Blade is getting NieR: Automata DLC.
Based on the trailer that Sony released during last night's State of Play, the collab will allow players to transform protagonist Eve into 2B from NieR: Automata. Whether or not the DLC will entail more, however, is unknown. The trailer does seem to show Eve as 2B looking over crumbling ruins that look like the Amusement Park from NieR: Automata, though Stellar Blade itself also has similar-looking areas. Of course, that Stellar Blade is getting a NieR: Automata shouldn't surprising, considering that director Hyung-tae Kim admits to being inspired by the latter. In fact, Kim even got to meet NieR creator Yoko Taro in the lead-up to his game's release.
The NieR: Automata collab isn't the only thing coming to Stellar Blade. The game is also getting its much-requested photo mode. As demonstrated in the State of Play trailer, not only does this mode allow players to take snapshots of Eve and her friends, but it also gives fans access to different poses, filters, stickers, borders and even custom directional lighting.
Alas, neither Sony nor developer SHIFT UP have revealed when either the new photo mode or the NieR: Automata DLC will be released. In the meantime, SHIFT UP has released Stellar Blade's soundtrack on iTunes and YouTube. This means fans can listed to the over 180 songs while waiting for the new content to drop.
