Going undercover is no simple task. One slip-up can cost you the success of the entire mission. Luckily, we've got this Zenless Zone Zero Jane Doe build ready in case you get into some hairy situations.
Jane is the limited S-Rank Agent featured during the second half of patch 1.1. She's a Physical Anomaly character who's quick on her feet, making her extremely efficient at applying Assault to enemies.
Anomaly Agents are damage dealers that don't rely on your typical crit builds and stun plus support shells. So, having a character like Jane on your roster will open the door to more variety in your team comps. (Read: Zenless Zone Zero Zhu Yuan – Best W-Engines, Drive Discs, and More)
Jane Doe Best W-Engines
Like pretty much every Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, Jane's best weapon will be her signature W-Engine, the Sharpened Stinger. Here's a closer look at what this weapon does and some other options to choose from in case you don't have it.
W-Engine | Rank | Stats (Lv. 60) | Effect |
Sharpened Stinger | S | Base ATK: 713 / Anomaly Proficiency: 90 | When equipped by an Anomaly Agent, using a Dash attack will grant one stack of Predatory Instinct. Each stack will give the wearer a 12% Physical DMG bonus for 10 seconds. This can stack up to three times. Entering combat or triggering Perfect Dodge will give the wearer three stacks of Predatory Instinct immediately. When stacks reach the maximum, Anomaly Buildup Rate will increase by 40%. |
Electro Lip Gloss | A | Base ATK: 594 / Anomaly Proficiency: 75 | When there are enemies on the field inflicted with Attribute Anomaly, the user of this W-Engine will have their ATK increased by 10% and deal 15% more damage to the affected target. |
Rainforest Gourmet | A | Base ATK: 594 / Anomaly Proficiency: 75 | The wearer will gain a 2.5% ATK buff for every 10 Energy consumed. This can stack up to 10 times with each stack lasting 10 seconds. |
Jane Doe Best Drive Discs
To get the most out of an Agent while in battle, you'll need to equip them with six Drive Discs. Having two or four discs from the same set will give that character unique buffs. As an Anomaly Agent, Jane's top choice would be to go with four pieces of the Freedom Blues set. Here are its effects and some options worth considering when filling out all six slots.
Drive Disc Set | 2-pc Effect | 4-pc Effect |
Fanged Metal | Physical DMG +10% | Wearer will deal 35% more damage to a target for 12 seconds after triggering Assault. |
Freedom Blues | Anomaly Proficiency +30 | Hitting a target with an EX Special Attack will reduce their Anomaly Buildup RES by 20% for 8 seconds. |
Hormone Punk | ATK +10% | The user will gain a 25% ATK boost after entering combat. This effect can be triggered every 20 seconds. |
When farming for these sets, look out for Physical DMG, Anomaly Mastery, Anomaly Proficiency, and ATK for your stats.
Jane Doe Abilities
For a better understanding of how Jane fights, let's take a closer look at all of her abilities.
Basic Attacks
- Dancing Blades – Tap the Basic Attack button for a series of up to six attacks that deal Physical damage.
- Passion – When Jane triggers a Perfect Dodge, Defensive Assist, or deals damage to an enemy, she accumulates Passion Stream. She will enter the Passion state after maxing out Passion Stream. In this state, Jane's Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 25%. Her ATK is also increased by two points for every point of Anomaly Proficiency above 120. Dealing damage will consume Passion Stream and Jane will exit the state once fully depleted.
- Salchow Jump – Hold down Basic Attack while in Passion state to perform consecutive attacks that end in a Finishing Move. Holding the button down longer will extend the attack's duration and releasing it early will execute the Finishing Move sooner. Jane will receive 40% less damage while using this move and have increased Anti-Interrupt level. She is invulnerable while performing the Finishing Move. Using Salchow Jump will generate Passion Stream.
Dodge Abilities
- Phantom (Dodge) – A rapid dodge that renders Jane invulnerable for a brief period. Jane can perform an extra dodge before entering the Passion state. While in Passion state, she can pass through enemies while dodging.
- Edge Jump (Dash Attack) – Perform an upward slash that deals Physical DMG by pressing Basic Attack after performing Jane's first dodge. If done after the second dodge, Jane will perform consecutive slashes that deal Physical DMG.
- Phantom Thrust (Dash Attack) – Tap the Basic Attack button during a dodge while in the Passion state to launch three rushing slashes that deal Physical DMG.
- Swift Shadow (Dodge Counter) – Press the Basic Attack button during a Perfect Dodge to deal Physical DMG. Jane will attack with multiple slashes and a downward thrust when done after her first dodge. She will leap and perform three consecutive attacks when done after the second dodge. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Swift Shadow Dance (Dodge Counter) – Press the Basic Attack button during a Perfect Dodge while in the Passion state to attack enemies in front of Jane, dealing Physical DMG multiple times. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
Assists
- Dark Thron (Quick Assist) – Perform multiple slashes that deal Physical DMG to an enemy. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Lutz Jump (Quick Assist) – Perform multiple slashes that deal Physical DMG to an enemy while in Passion state. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Last Defense (Defensive Assist) – Parry an enemy attack and inflict massive Daze. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Gale Sweep (Assist Follow-Up) – Tap the Basic Attack button after a Defensive Assist to deal Physical DMG to a wide area in front. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
Special Attacks
- Aerial Sweep (Special Attack) – Jump into the air and perform a series of kicks that deal Physical DMG. Anti-Interrupt level is increased while using this skill.
- Aerial Sweep - Clearout (EX Special Attack) – Jump into the air to perform multiple kicks that deal massive Physical DMG. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
Chain Attack and Ultimate
- Flowers of Sin (Chain Attack) – Deal massive Physical DMG and enter the Passion state with maximum Passion Stream. Jane is invulnerable while using this skill.
- Final Curtain (Ultimate) – Consume Decibels to weave between enemies and deal massive Physical DMG in a large area. Jane will then enter the Passion state with maximum Passion Stream. She is invulnerable while using this skill.
Passives
- Insight (Core Passive) – Jane's attacks will cause enemies to enter the Gnawed state for 10 seconds when hit. When Assault is inflicted on a target in the Gnawed state, it will cause the Flinch effect, giving Assault DMG a chance to trigger a critical hit. The CRIT Rate for this will increase with each point of Jane's Anomaly Proficiency.
- Sore Spot (Additional Ability) – Jane's Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 20% when on a squad with a character from the same faction or another Anomaly Agent. Physical Anomaly Buildup is increased by an additional 15% when the target is already suffering from an Attribute Anomaly.
Jane Doe Mindscape Cinema
When obtaining multiple copies of an Agent, you'll unlock levels of their Mindscape Cinema. These are additional passive abilities or buffs to existing ones that give characters significant upgrades in battle. Here's a look at what Jane can get from unlocking her Mindscape Cinema.
Level | Mindscape Cinema | Description |
1 | Crime Counsel | The number of times you can use Salchow Jump is increased by one. When in the Passion state, Jane's Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 15% and each point of her Anomaly Proficiency will improve her DMG by 0.1% up to a maximum of 30%. |
2 | Adapt to the Environment | If Jane attacks an enemy in the Gnawed state or when any squad member triggers Assault on them, 15% of DEF will be ignored. CRIT DMG from Assault will also be increased by 50%. |
3 | Anonymity | Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack levels increase by 2. |
4 | Adapt and Thrive | When any ally triggers Assault or Disorder, the entire squad will have their Attribute Anomaly DMG increased by 18% for 15 seconds. |
5 | Compulsive Hoarder | Basic Attack, Dodge, Assist, Special Attack, and Chain Attack levels increase by 2. |
6 | Shady Technique | Jane's CRIT Rate will increase by 20% and her CRIT DMG will increase by 40% while in the Passion state. When any squad member triggers Assault, Jane will immediately enter the Passion state and gain maximum Passion Stream. Jane will deal additional Physical DMG equal to 1,600% of her Anomaly Proficiency to a target when Assault triggers a critical hit. |
Jane Doe Best Teammates
Building a cohesive party is a huge part of Zenless Zone Zero. So here are the best Agents to have on the squad with Jane Doe.
- Seth – The latest A-Rank Agent to make it into ZZZ, he's a Defense unit with the Electric Attribute. His kit looks like it was designed specifically as a support for Jane since he helps with her damage output and survivability. Seth can provide shields for his allies, and squad members protected by his shield will gain a substantial Anomaly Proficiency Buff.
- Grace – Disorder is a powerful mechanic that can help you deal a ton of damage when used right. With Grace being another S-Rank Anomaly Agent, pairing her with Jane will allow you to trigger Disorder a lot more frequently.
- Nekomata – This Physical S-Rank Agent from the standard banner gains a lot of benefits when Assault is triggered in battle. You can place her on a squad with Jane for that extra bit of burst when you're looking to take down enemies quickly.
- Bangvolver – A Bangboo with a giant revolver attached to its head. This little guy specializes in Physical Anomaly Buildup, so having him on a team with Jane will allow for even more Assault procs. Its passive is triggered by having two Physical Agents on the squad, allowing the Bangboo to inflict more Anomaly Buildup.
- Luckyboo – Another Bangboo that can help with your team's Physical Anomaly Buildup. It's not as potent as Bangvolver since it's an A-Rank, but it's still a good alternative to have while you work on getting its S-Rank counterpart. Like Bangvolver, Luckyboo's passive is triggered by having two Physical Agents on the team for more Anomaly Buildup.
And that's our build guide for Jane Doe in Zenless Zone Zero. She's a formidable offensive unit that can give any roster some added firepower when built right. So if you're having trouble clearing timed content in the game, Jane is definitely worth pulling for.
