Join us in monitoring the SONA on July 28, 4 to 6 pm!

Hi daily,

Rappler will be covering and monitoring President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) this July 28!

Ahead of the SONA, we've worked with partners to help make sense of how the President has fared midway through his presidency in addressing top issues of Filipinos. Together, we've produced videos, community chats, and stories.

On SONA day, we hope you can join us in monitoring the SONA by being part of our community chat where we will do real-time commentary and fact-checking in the Philippine Politics chat room of the Rappler app on Monday, July 28, 4 to 6 pm.

During this chat, you can share your thoughts and reactions, in real-time, as President Marcos delivers his SONA in the Philippine Politics chat room. You can also flag inaccurate claims, promises unfulfilled, or context on various issues mentioned during the SONA. Your insights can help inform our coverage, as well as help our fact-checkers know if there's anything that needs to be verified from the President's speech.

With your help, we'll get to better capture the state of the nation.

To join the chat, just download the Rappler app FOR FREE (available on iOS and android) and join the Philippine Politics chat room on July 28, 4 to 6 pm.

See you in the chat room!

Courage on,

Why should we care about Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial? Join the chat on July 25!

Hi daily!

Sara Duterte's impeachment trial has seen delays and efforts to dismiss it. With the 20th Congress set to start on the day of SONA, why is it important for Filipinos to monitor this test of accountability?

Let's talk about this later, July 25, at 2 pm in the Justice and Crime chat room on the Rappler app with Dr. Anthony Lawrence A. Borja and Dr. Ruth Angelie Cruz of De La Salle University, Atty. Nicolene Arcaina of Ateneo Human Rights Center, and Atty. Josiah Quising of Project Gunita. This community chat will be moderated by Rappler senior desk editor Mia Gonzalez.

This community chat aims to unpack why accountability and transparency matter, especially when so much is at stake.

Your voice matters in this conversation! Join us later, and share your thoughts about the impeachment! You can also ask questions or just follow the discussion.

To be a part of the chat, download the Rappler app for FREE on Play Store or App Store, and join the Justice and Crime chat room ahead of time:

The Justice and Crime chat room will also be where you can get updates on the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte and ICC trial of former President Rodrigo Duterte, among others.

Missed our earlier chats on Marcos Year 3? Backread them here. We will also be holding real-time commentary and fact-checking during the State of the Nation Address at the Philippine Politics chat room in the Rappler app on Monday, July 28, 4 pm.

We hope to see you in the chat!

Show us how the weather is affecting your community

Dear daily,

In the past few days, several parts of the country have been battered by heavy rainfall due to the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat.

On top of the habagat, there are now two tropical cyclones inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility – tropical depression Emong, and tropical storm Dante. Both are enhancing the habagat, the main source of rain for several days now.

Rappler has been sharing updates in the Project Agos chat room, but we need your help so people have more eyes on what's going on in other parts of the Philippines.

With your contribution, more people are updated as to how the weather is affecting different parts of the Philippines. This could help inform locals, disaster responders, officials, and organizations aiming to provide relief to affected areas. More than that, you help give a visual to the data and news reports that are being put out.

We're using the Rappler app to offer you, a valued member of our community, a space to shape our coverage, and be a part of conversations on pressing issues. Downloading the Rappler app is FREE, and available on both iOS and Android.

Here are some ways you can help out during this time:

  • Stay updated and informed by joining the Project Agos - HabagatPH chat room in the Rappler app. In the chat room, you get alerts, advisories, and other updates about the weather, as well as see reports from concerned citizens about how different parts of the country are faring.

  • Share photos and updates to the Project Agos - HabagatPH chat room. Is there flooding in your area? Is your electricity out? Are there interesting incidents that you are seeing in your area because of the weather? You can share the situation and a photo to the chat room so more people are aware about what's going on in your area. If you spot any on social media, we highly advise verifying these first before sharing to the chat room.
  • Found a relief initiative for those affected? Share them with us! If you spotted a relief initiative to help those affected, feel free to send the link and details to the volunteer opportunities chat room in the Rappler app. We will then collate these in a page for easy reference!

We hope you stay safe and dry during this rainy season!

See you in the chat rooms!

Courage on,
