Carvajal: Whose national interest?

LAST I looked our national problem is still the dehumanizing poverty of 30 million or so Filipinos. No administration so far, including the current one, has made a substantive dent on this problem because we have always been ruled by politicians who represent the interests of a wealthy and privileged few.

This humungous problem includes thousands of small farmers and fisher-folks who eke out a living in farms they don't own or in polluted municipal waters. It also includes undernourished families without decent homes, running water, and sanitary waste disposal facilities. It includes millions of contractual laborers that have ...

Best membrane for non-aqueous redox flow batteries

May 13, 2021

A Chinese-Finnish research team has identified composite membranes as the best future option for non-aqueous redox flow batteries.

Membranes represent a significant portion of the final costs of redox flow batteries (RFB) used in energy storage systems. It is therefore important to identify the membrane technologies that could simultaneously ensure high performance and low-cost production, as this will be crucial to bringing redox flow storage closer to wider adoption in commercial projects.

With this in mind, researchers from Finland's Aalto Universityand Tianjin University in China have conducted a review of the different kinds of membranes that could be ...
