The newly-formed the Hugpong Para Kay Sara (HPS) said a Duterte-Carpio-Marcos tandem is "the best."

"Sure, I say this because I and former senator Marcos are both from the north, but it would be very difficult to argue that this team is the most qualified for the jobs of president and vice president," said Abra Rep. Joseph Bernos, the vice president of HPS.

However, the Sara Duterte-Marcos tandem will run into several issues as the Davao city mayor earlier said she is no longer interested in running for any national position in 2022 as her father will be gunning for vice president.

"Yes, I am not running for a national position as we both agreed only one of us will run for a national position in 2022," she said in a television interview.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday last week formally accepted his nomination as the official vice presidential candidate of the ruling party, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), to ensure the "continuity" of his efforts to bring progress to the country.

Also, Marcos said his supporters, mostly made up of local government officials at the provincial level, want him to run for president and not vice president.
