Sinabi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) nitong Lunes na target nitong i-adopt ang transparency policy sa Commission on Human Rights (CHR) upang tiyakin na lahat ng illegal drug raids ay naisasagawa alinsunod sa batas.
Sinabi ni DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano na tinatanggap ng ahensya ang panukalang inihain ni House Deputy Minority Leader Bernadette Herrera para samahan ng CHR agents ang law enforcement officers sa pagsasagawa ng anti-illegal drug operations.
"It may be a good idea if CHR can ramp up their manpower. I am not sure if they have the resources to do that," ani Clavano. "In any case, the Secretary (Jesus Crispin Remulla) has given his assurance that the DOJ will be transparent with the CHR."
Nakasaad sa Section 21, Article II ng Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 pna ang mga nasabat na item sa drug operations ay dapat na agad na iimbentaryo at kunan ng larawan pagkakumpiska sa harap ng akusado o kinatawan o abogado ng akusado, isang elected official, kinatawan mula sa media, at kinatawan mula sa DOJ, "all of whom shall be required to sign the copies of the inventory and be given a copy of the same and the seized drugs must be turned over to a forensic laboratory within 24 hours from confiscation for examination."
Sa ilalim ng House Bill 1011 ni Herrera, kinakailangang idokumento ng CHR agents sa police operations laban sa suspected drug traffickers ang mga aktibidad ng kapulisan para sa "mutual protection of the accused personalities and the police officers."
Binanggit din ni Clavano na nakatakdang makipagpulong si Remulla kay Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey sa linggong ito upang talakayin ang tungkol sa human rights initiatives at mga programa ng bansa
