Halos 36 porsyento ng mga Pilipino noong nakaraang taon ang nabiktima ng malware sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng removable devices tulad ng flash drives o USBs, ayon sa ulat ng global cybersecurity company Kaspersky.
Mayorya ng mga insidente ay dulot ng worms at file viruses, batay sa kompanya.
Base sa Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) data mula January hanggang December 2023, ikatlo ang Pilipinas sa mga bansa sa Southeast Asia na may pinakamaraming users na inatake ng local threats, sinundan ang Vietnam (53.30 percent) at Indonesia (41.10 percent).
"Throughout 2023, Kaspersky solutions detected and blocked a total of 22,731,157 local threats," anito.
Kinolekta ang KSN data mula sa Kaspersky customers "who have installed the company's cybersecurity software on their computers and voluntarily shared information with the firm."
Sa buong mundo, ika-76 ang Pilipinas sa KSN report ng Kaspersky noong 2023, mula ika-72 noong 2022 at ika-70 noong 2021.
"Thumb drives are so nifty. Over time, it has become smaller in size, yet its capacity has tremendously increased… But USBs are a boon to everyone who uses them, cybercriminals included, and a bane for those unaware that such offline hardware could cause a catastrophe," pahayag ni Yeo Siang Tiong, Kaspersky SEA general manager.
