At Summer Game Fest, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will have one much-requested feature — crossplay between players on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
The past two mainline Monster Hunter titles from the series' "fifth generation" — Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise — launched on multiple systems over the years. However, players on each system were not able to play with those on others.
The main reason for this usually boiled down to each game getting staggered releases and updates on each system. For example, Monster Hunter World's PC release came a whole 8 months after its console versions.
On the other hand, Monster Hunter Wilds — the first game of the series' sixth generation — looks like it'll come out at the exact same time on all announced systems next year. In addition, Capcom already has experience with crossplay with other games running on the RE Engine with Street Fighter 6.
Beyond Monster Hunter Wilds getting crossplay confirmed, Summer Game Fest also brought a new trailer for the game.

The trailer shows some more gameplay, this time using the default female hunter. This allows us to hear more of the player hunter talking —a first for the series as confirmed at last week's PlayStation State of Play. It also shows us a new leviathan monster, the desert-dwelling Balahara which can create quicksand traps, something the player hunter seems to fall for in the trailer.
Monster Hunter Wilds arrives with crossplay on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles in 2025.
