Review
I've been lucky enough to have been able to review the last few Moto GP games and being a fan of the sport this is definitely a highlight of the year for me, so when the opportunity came around to review this year's edition of the racing game I had to jump at it. As with any yearly incarnation of games I tend to go into them with an anxious feeling that what changes are going to be made? Will it feel any different? Will it be better? Or will it be worse? So many questions that go through my mind and to be fair once again Milestone have blown it out the water.
Not only have they given the game that yearly spit and polish that you would expect to things like updated visuals the developers have gone deep into the gameplay and brought a game that is probably the most realistic feeling game to date. New features include a fully tweaked career mode bringing the most authentic experience ever, the best part of the new career mode is the inclusion of riders market introducing a transfer system allowing you to move from team to team if the right offer comes about this gives you the chance to progress your career and even freshen things up a sticking with the same team can feel a bit stale sometimes.
In terms of the feeling of the gameplay I feel it's one of the best feeling games so far in the series, even if you play the game on the easier setting to get used to everything you still won't win everything so easily as the game feels far more challenging which is definitely a good thing as in previous years if you set the game to an easier setting most times you will win and it can become slightly tedious I feel that the tweaks that have been made make the game far more competitive and keeps the fun factor going longer and giving even the lesser skilled riders (yes that's me) a better experience. With the introduction of MotoGP stewards keeping their eagle eyes on you every movement is scrutinized just as it would be in real world races, yes this can be frustrating for casual players but those that are looking for an authentic experience will appreciate this addition.
When starting up a career as in the previous games you can start at the lower levels Moto GP3 then progress up the levels until you reach the promise land this does enable you to hone your skills as you level up however if like me you are more impatient you can jump straight into the big league at the Moto GP table but be prepared for the challenge as it definitely is an experience and if you are a fan of the sport then you'll want to mix it with all the big names, taking over Marc Marquez on the turn is definitely a good ego boost.
As usual you have the different game modes that are more or less standard to racing games in general, you have the single race mode that enables you to play out your favourite races great if you just want a quick race, then you have the career mode that enables you to take on the big boys and rise to the top with the inclusion of the rider market this is the most immersive it's ever been and it's a mode I am still enjoying, then if you feel like you are getting to grips with the game take your skills online and challenge other riders around the world which is definitely where the most fun in the game lies - I would definitely recommend you get involved with this.
The customisation part of the game is probably where you can be the most creative with the helmets and outfits with the helmets where you can quite literally go wild with the most options yet.
Graphics and Sound
In terms of graphics if you've played a Milestone game before you'll know they offer the best looking games around and Moto GP 24 is no different it looks stunning in every aspect, with the introduction of new camera angles it really gives the player a true race day experience and at times it is difficult to tell the difference between the game and watching the race live. The bike liveries have been updated along with the roster with the likenesses life-like which adds to the overall realism of the game and in my opinion the best looking yet.
The soundtrack of the game brings the real life theme from the live races that adds to the realistic feeling of the game, in terms of in game the sound effects are realistic and the bikes sound completely life like and would definitely appeal to fans of the sport.
Summary
Time now then for me to put my thoughts into a summary, overall in case you weren't aware I absolutely loved the game and will continue to do so for some time yet. The developers keep improving year in year out bringing the most authentic racing experience to consoles with the inclusion of the various updates this year's addition was probably the most immersive experience I've had so far. If you are a Moto GP fan then you definitely need this game in your collection, even if you're not you'll probably will be after this.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
