Hoyoverse just dropped a new teaser trailer for Genshin Impact version 5.0 that gives players a look at some of the new characters, including the much-awaited Pyro Archon.
Genshin Impact's version 5.0 update, which adds the Natlan region, is one of the most anticipated updates to Hoyoverse's long-running fantasy action RPG. Beyond the new region, the update is also looking to add a number of new features, including player mounts, when it arrives in August.
However, as with most Genshin Impact updates, what many players are looking forward to are the new characters, especially the Pyro Archo, whose story is set to drive the main plotline for the year or so to come. (Read: Zenless Zone Zero possibly teasing a Street Fighter 6 collab)
The new Genshin Impact teaser does not disappoint, giving us our first look at Pyro Archon Mavuika, who is seen issuing an open challenge to compete in the tournament that will seemingly be the focus of Natlan's story.
Mavuika seems to take her name from Mahuika, a fire goddess in Maori mythology. In terms of her design, Mavuika uses Genshin Impact's "tall female" model and sports a fiery mane of long hair. She follows in the footsteps of version 4.6's Arlecchino in that she doesn't wear a skirt or skirt-like cover.
While Arlecchino wore pants as part of a formal 3-piece suit, Mavuika looks to be wearing something akin to a biker's leathers. Topping off the "biker" motif is the pair of shades she wears. What this means, specifically if she will have a motorcycle-like mount, is as of yet unknown.
What's also unknown is what weapon she'll wield. However, supposed leaks point to Genshin Impact's Pyro Archon being a claymore user — something that does make sense seeing the lack of claymore-wielding archons in the game.
Of course, Mavuika isn't the only new character shown in the recent Genshin Impact trailer. The Pyro Archon is also joined by — in order of appearance — new characters Mualani, Kachina, Kinich, Citlali, Xilonen, Iansan, Chasca and Ororon. In addition, the voice actors for these have also been revealed in the official Genshin Impact X, formerly Twitter, account.
Genshin Impact version 5.0 is set to arrive on August 27, 2024 on Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.
