Walang magagawa ang gobyerno para pigilan ang prosecutor mula sa International Criminal Court (ICC) na siyasatin ang mga persons of interest sa war on drugs ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo "Digong" Duterte, ayon kay Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra.
"[T]he Philippine government cannot stop him from proceeding in any way he wants," saad ni Guevarra sa mensahe sa mga report.
"He can directly interview persons of interest online, through the phone, by email or face to face, subject to the consent of these persons," paliwanag pa niya.
Hindi binanggit ni Guevarra ang pangalan ng mga person of interest pero nauna nang isiniwalat ni dating Senador Antonio Trillanes IV na si Senador Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa at apat pang dating police official ay itinuring na suspek sa imbestigasyon ng ICC.
Base sa kopya ng dokumento mula sa Office of the Prosecutor ng ICC na nakuha ni Trillanes, si Dela Rosa ay itinuturing na suspek kasama sina dating PNP chief Oscar Albayalde, dating Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief Romeo Caramat Jr., dating National Police Commission commissioner Edilberto Leonardo at dating PNP Intelligence Officer Eleazar Mata.
Dahil sa paglalabas ng dokumento, napilitang magpaliwanag si Guevarra kung ano ang hinihiling ng ICC.
"Humihingi ng assistance 'yung ICC prosecutor sa Philippine government para ma-facilitate 'yung pag-interview ng prosecutor dito sa limang tao na binabanggit doon sa communication," wika ng SolGen.
