It looks like Netflix and CD Projekt Red have a new Cyberpunk animé series in the works. The two companies announced the new show at last Thursday's Netflix's Geeked event.
Netflix and CD Proket Red first partnered for a Cyberpunk animé series back in 2022 with the Studio Trigger-animated Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The latter launched to critical acclaim with a "100% fresh" rating from 16 critics' reviews on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. That show eventually went on to win multiple "Animé of the Year" awards from various outlets.
For the new show, neither Netflix nor CD Projekt Red made any mention of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which seems to indicate that the new show will likely not be a sequel to the latter.
To add to that, Studio Trigger, who animated Edgerunners isn't mentioned either. Instead, the teaser for the new show only mentions Netflix Animation, which is Netflix's in-house studio that develops and co-produces animated features. That said, Netflix and CD Projekt Red have promised that more information on the new Cyberpunk animé is "coming soon," so hopefully fans will get answers as to who is behind the new show and what it's about.
In the meantime, here's the teaser for Netflix's new Cyberpunk animé.
